We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Styles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I answer this question confidently when I say honestly don’t know where I want to be professionally by the end of my career. For a while I thought this was a problem but as time past I feel as though this is ok. I’ve always thought I had it all planned and figured out but I’ve learned that sometimes we look to far off into the future that we don’t see what’s it front of us and process it. As of right now I’m allowing my destiny to take me as it please.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I went to Art School where I received my Bachelors Degree in Art and Minor in Art History. Through the process of receiving my education I became an entrepreneur. The knowledge I grasped from school I used to develop a career as a Makeup Artist, as well as an Art Gallery owner. From here I work as an Art Dealer and a Creative Director for upcoming artists of Memphis. I don’t like to consider myself as just a makeup artist, or a painter, or etc. because I feel as though I would just be putting myself in a small box. I like to consider myself as an Artist, when it comes to the execution of creativity I am very diverse. My community and music is what inspires everything I do, as for I always like to intertwin my emotions and experiences to my work. I feel as though this is what separates me for others and allows me to connect and communicate my creativity with my peers better.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My 2 all-time favorite spots in my city would have to be where I work Penny Hardaway Presents: Christyle’s Celebrity Salon the diversity and conversations held within the salon is what makes me enjoy working there the most My second all-time favorite is Privé Restaurant their wide selection of food contains all of my favorites meals from seafood to soul food to the drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank of my clients, all of my professors, all of my family, friends supports. A special thank you to my parents and sisters for comforting me and pushing me when I needed it the most. Most importantly thank you to the higher power that has given me continuous ambition, drive, passion, and success with my career.
