We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Baldridge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks has played a huge role in my life and career. I grew up in Oakland, California which is also where I build my business and where I was most comfortable. A year in a half ago I took a major risks by selling everything in my apartment and moving to Atlanta, GA with nothing besides clothes, shoes and an apartment. I had 0 clientele, no friends and no family nor did I have a plan. I came here and worked to build and grow my business. That was the biggest risks I’ve ever taken.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have been a lash artist for 3 years and during that time there has been so many ups and downs. It was not an easy journey most of all but one thing I can say is it was rewarding. I got to where I am with consistency, prayer and manifestation. Along the way I’ve learned that no matter what, you have to push yourself to keep going and you can’t worry about things you have no control over. We all as entrepreneurs have times where we want to give up but have to realize that most individuals are successful because they did not give up. Always remain who you are and never allow anyone to change who you are as a person. Most of all, put your all into your business and brand and never treat it like a side hustle. I want iLash Glam Trap to be a place where ladies come to relax, feel comfortable and feel beautiful despite what they may be going through. I am excited to see where my journey leads me and where I am as a person and business owner in the next few years.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love love love to eat! So a few of my favorite places I would go to eat are Pirates Boil, Juicy Crab and Tastee Spoon. I also love Boogalou which is a great vibe and hang out spot.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say my bestfriend Vonje and my Mom deserve the most recognition in my story. Those are the two people that were there on nights that I cried, I was worried and stressed and didn’t know what to do. Whenever I was going through something they were there to support and pick me up and remind me why I moved to Atlanta in the first place.
