Meet Cre Watts | Licensed Permanent Makeup Artist | Certified Brow and Lash Tech

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cre Watts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cre, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting PMU by Beauty was to create a better life for myself that I actually enjoy. I have always had an interest in the beauty industry and I wanted to start a business that allowed me to serve and help others feel better about themselves. I feel that God’s purpose for me is serving so I wanted to ensure I was allowing his will to be done most importantly.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is that I am passionate, professional and purpose driven. I’m an Artist with the gift and confidence that brings refined enhancement to one’s appearance.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come with my craft as well as the visible quality in my work and the knowledge I’ve obtained. I am most excited about my pivot, what all I plan to add to my portfolio and how it will benefit my people.
How I got where am today professionally, I invested in training courses, practice, studying, research and more practice.
Building PMU by Beauty from the ground with no assistance was not an easy process. I chose not to share my new business venture with anyone until the day I opened my doors..it felt like right choice for me. My thoughts were to protect my baby, lol that’s exactly what it felt like, having a baby & only wanting the best for it. I wanted to keep away from anything that could taint or interfere with PMU by Beauty’s success. Though I now realize that it’s ok to reach out for help & not be alone through the building stages. I feel it’s especially important to have professional knowledge & business intellect prior to starting a new business venture.
I first overcame my fear of asking for help then I was able to overcome the challenges I was facing in my business. I am still overcoming challenges from slow months, to up keep on inventory to bills that are due whether I have a good month or not. As far as training and practice I can say that was the easy part for me. I’m a visual learner so once you show me I’ve got it & the more time I put into practice the better I got.
One of the lessons I’ve learned is scared money don’t make none & pivoting works! One way I pivoted was brainstorming on how I could add to PMU by Beauty, how would it benefit my target audience as well as compliment the services I already provide. I’ve also learned it’s best to scale back on certain things until it makes sense again. It’s been working for me and by the grace of God I’m still open and serving.
I would like the world to know that God chose me, I have a place in this industry and I plan to make my mark. As far as my brand, I am my brand & if you know me you know that I’m known for my Beauty inside & out and well polished appearance. So one day I thought why not create a brand that helps add to other women’s appearance..give them the opportunity to feel what I experience when being complimented on my appearance.
My brand PMU by Beauty is all about enhancing the natural beauty and making life easier for the women who enjoy looking beautiful also the women who want to a polished appearance but don’t have the time, I got you! My brand benefits the every day woman, from working class to the nightlife and entrepreneurs. My desire is to provide a luxury experience, quality products and professional service when my clients come in for self care. I’m passionate about bringing natural beauty back to the industry, inside and out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Itinerary for my bestie visiting for a week would go something like this:
First day I’d keep cute and light, drinks and eats at Basti or Pasha.
Next day brunch at Grits and eggs hit Lenox mall or Saks for some pieces then later hit the strip club to end the night.
Next day spa day at Nobu and lunch at Houston’s.
Next day hit an r&b night.
Next day high museum of art or trap museum then bowling and hookah.
Next day chill inside with the vibes, cook, games and a movie.
Last day attend Change church.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I would like to give a thank to my first Permanent eyebrow Brow trainer Mindy of Iconic Imagery, she trained me 3 1/2 years ago and I can still call her to this day for any professional advice or simply info about the industry and she’s ready to help. I see her more as a mentor than anything, I appreciate you girl!
I would also like to thank my sister Jacky owner of Crowned by Jacky who is also in the beauty industry, she’s been a hairstylist for over 10 years and has supported me since day one of me opening the doors to my business. Her advice as well as booking appointments to get serviced by me has meant a lot, I appreciate you sissy!
I would like to thank my mother for all her prayers for me & PMU by Beauty, her support and allowing me to practice on her from time to time, I appreciate you Mama!
I would like to thank all of my loyal clients & those who have given me the opportunity to provide them with the best service. I appreciate all other support as well, from reposts, to likes to simply putting in a word about PMU by Beauty, thank you all!
Last but most certainly not least I would like to thank God, for guiding me on this journey and trusting me with this gift. I am forever grateful!
