We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cindy, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
A good work ethic instilled in me by both of my parents. They always stressed the importance of working hard ,not to settle and success does not come easy. I taught my self to decorate cakes with lots of You tube videos and a lot of trial and error. I am proud to come as far as I have and look forward to expanding my knowledge as a cake artist.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love decorating cakes and being a part of special events. I do all occasions of cakes, but wedding cakes are my passion. I enjoy doing different and unique task, nothing is traditional when it comes to wedding cakes anymore, anything goes. It’s a great feeling to know you created something special and were able to make their day even more memorable. My website has been a great investment besides just being on social media. Since we are close to the Northeast Georgia Mountains, I receive a lot of request to do cakes from out of state customers coming up to be married at the local venues, waterfalls, etc.. It has taken a lot of hard work and patience to get to where I am in my cake artistry and I’m so glad I did not give up. I would love, someday, for Cindy’s Tasty Cakes to be known as one of Georgia’s best bakeries!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live at the Foothills of the Northeast Georgia Mountains so there is plenty to do. We have lots of wineries, restaurants and other scenic places to visit. The Tallulah Gorge is just right down the road from our house, and we have a small adjoining touristy town called Clayton, Ga, which has several cute shops and restaurants. I would say Fortify in Clayton Ga is my favorite to go to and Helen Ga is always a fun place to go hang out for the day. We are also close enough to Atlanta if we wanted to take a day trip and visit the aquarium, museums, etc.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has always supported me on my journey in cake decorating, I played around with it for a couple of years before actually putting myself out there and I am so happy that they pushed me to do that!
