We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciara Pinkney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciara, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Giving up is never an option if you desire to be successful.
You’ll always know when to keep going though— your mind will crave the end result, it’ll crave the “what if” … when you wake up and when you head to sleep. Your mind will be consumed by that desire 24/7.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a Mobile Bartending business titled Beyond the Bar, which staffs private bartenders for celebratory events such as weddings, birthday parties, graduation parties, season premieres, just because events… you name it. We also offer an abundance of services including: job consultation and interview prep for those who want to break into the industry.
I titled my company Beyond the Bar because I personally am a wearer of many hats comparable to many other bartenders who have full time roles and other entrepreneurial ventures. I also am an overachiever, so I like to aim for goals beyond any boundary or bar set and shatter any glass ceiling put in place.
Beyond the Bar also has a Bartending Certification Masterclass that will be live and available in just a few short weeks. This class will teach those who have developed an interest in Bartending the knowledge and foundation to sustain a career doing exactly what I love to do.
There are two very important things that I feel sets my business apart from others. The first thing is amazing customer service— so many businesses lack in this area and that is something I’m just not willing to budge on in any capacity. The other important thing is that because I have the background in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, customer service and the skillset, perfectionism is the center of all my contracts. I strive to provide the best experience by going above and beyond to satisfy my clients and providing everything they need or unknowingly needed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ha! Crazily enough I’m waiting for my best friends to visit me so that I can take them everywhere that I have fallen in love with.
Both of my best friends love nature, greenery, great food, scenic views and wearing stylish outfits.
So 1st stop:
Walking through Atlanta Botanical Garden enjoying the breeze.
Second stop: Brunch @ The Select
After brunch, we’d take photos at different areas nearby (we need content lol)!
Third stop: dinner and cocktails at The Garden Room because it’s such a beautiful ambiance.
Last stop: Out to a lounge or nightclub, glasses of champagne, cocktails, great music and endless fun!
I’m such a foodie so throughout the remainder of the week we’d visit many of my fav food places, visit a winery or a wine bar depending on weather, find a concert to attend and more than likely I’d take them out for a day of adventure in the outskirts— ATV riding, etc and as the week commences, we’d do a day spa with a rooftop pool/view and vibe out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be quite honest, I would feel horrible to thank just one person. I would have to thank my entire tribe: my mom (who supports everything I do in life), my eldest sister who has nudged me every time I felt hesitant, my brothers (one of which is watching from the clouds), my baby sister, my best friends and my friends … they have all contributed to my entrepreneurial journey in some way, shape, form or fashion. I am immensely and uniquely indebted to all of these individuals.
