We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
God is the center of my life, and one thing that I am big on is purpose. Why did God put me on this Earth? I know the answer to that question, so it was just natural for me to start my business out of what He placed in my heart.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the CEO of Dream Daddy Media, a media company that produces faith-based and inspiring content that appeals to audiences that would normally shy away from that type of content. My company focuses not just on one type of media, put produces in all types; films, television, music, and now books (graphic novels in particular). I’m most proud of and excited about my latest work, the graphic novel, “Warfare: The Chronicles of Ki.” To be honest, it couldn’t come at a better time with the success of K-pop Demon Hunters. My book is along those same lines. It’s the first in a series, with the second book due to be released later this year. A film series based on the books is also in the works.

Starting this business has been a long journey and it has not been easy. The only way I’ve been able to overcome the challenges has been to focus on God; to know that He gave me the gifts I have and that I have purpose. He also equipped me (and still equips me) with what I needed to see things through.

Everything I’ve built stems from one gift given to me by God; the gift to write. So, for me, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is that once you’ve identified your gift and know what you need to do with it, don’t let anything stop you. Challenges are inherently a part of every aspect of life. Accept it. Work through it. Never give up. Failure is actually a part of success. Failure is only failure when you stop.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Coca Cola museum, so I would definitely want to take them there. I love sampling the different Coke products from around the world. As far as places to eat, we’d have to head to Buckhead. I don’t have a particular restaurant in mind, but there are so many great places. As for sports, we have to take in an Atlanta United match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The fans are arguably the most excited and diehard fans in America. I don’t know if this counts for Atlanta, but, if it’s summertime, we’d have to venture to Helen, Georgia to do river tubing down the Chattahoochee. There’s nothing like it and you’re guaranteed to come away from the experience with stories that will keep you laughing for years to come.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, next to God, would be my wife. I would not be able to build my business without her support. An author and fellow creative, she understands the creative process and the long hours it often takes to give birth to an idea. Also, Ayanna Mills-Ambrose of Thanx-A-Mills has been instrumental in the success of my book. She showed me a winning process in marketing and showed me what was possible. In addition, Marla Isidro, another mentor of mine, has been pivotal in the area of finance. As one of USA Today’s top five wealth coaches, I learned much from her that I am using in my own business.
