We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsee Rowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsee, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Originally From Gadsden, Alabama, born in the early 90’s, I wouldn’t describe my life as privileged but I will describe it as the best of both worlds. Raised on the Eastside of Gadsden with my grandparents, at that time my life was innocent, filled with fun and games. My grandmother was a seamstress and worked as a Fabric department associate at Walmart & my grandfather owned a restaurant at the time & hustled on the side anything he could. As a child, My grandmother taught me how to use a sewing machine & how to hand sew & put different materials together. On the other hand, taught how to make a hustle out of anything.. After experiencing and growing in the small city I made up my mind I wanted to start my own lane. I’ve always been my own person and felt that I’m Chelsee, nobody is me, anything that someone else does, I’m going to always do it different. Coming from where I’m from, it’s hard to be someone of your own because everybody knows everybody so you get people who are doing the same thing. So for me I always wanted my own identity outside of just being from this small country town. What originated from a idea in 2017, became reality in Fall of 2019. HUSH Apparel was established. Hustle Until Something Happens is more than just a logo or a brand. It is a lifestyle, it is motivation, it is reassurance that your current situation is not your end result. I wanted to start something that pushed and reminded people that I see what you are doing, keep going ,& don’t give up. I come from hustling grandparents, my parents as well who did what was needed to do by all means necessary and never gave up. So my brand is my Life, it symbolizes me and what my situation is and more importantly dedicated to my black community. We have been counted out for so long, it’s time that we become counted in.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My craft is the simplicity but dope touch that makes me different. I believe in the most simple base or canvas and finishing it off with a unique design or detail. It took me years to completely get into my creative space but with each day I develop more into my unique self. Mistakes, trial and error and experience got me to this place I am in today. The journey was not easy, I had my exposure and conflicts with business and it only made me stronger and push harder to truly define me and my brand. Im here to encourage and lead through my brand, providing pieces they make the struggle seem easy..

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A fun day in Atlanta for me is Edgewood. I love the openness and relaxed vibes you receive while being in the area. It brings me back to our culture, bright lights, loud music, good food and fun times. A strip of activities and sites to see.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dedication and appreciation goes to my grandparents. My grandmother, who has been independent and hardworking since I was old enough to remember, instilling skills and grind in me and taught me never to depend on anyone, has molded me into the woman I am today. My loving grandfather, my yes man, my encourager and strong supporter behind any idea I ever had, thank you for the love and security to go after whatever my heart desired, I love you.
