We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success would be staying true to myself. Understanding that I can’t compare myself nor my journey to anyone else. I had to remain focused on my goals and stick to the plan. Putting my faith in God and trusting the process. The old me felt the need to post my whole life story on social media and I would be so bitter watching others win that I felt like I was losing. I had to realize I was the only person stopping myself and I am only as big as I ALLOW myself to be.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Property Management is not for the weak. However, it most definitely has it perks. I started as a customer service loan officer assistant and decided to get into real estate and then to property management. I didn’t necessarily have the confidence to start off as a realtor, so I became a Leasing agent with the company I work for now. When I first started it was the thrill of walking apartments, setting up welcome gifts, and being the sole person responsible for finding a complete stranger their new home! Working at a huge property that has 668 units I had my stressful days but ultimately it was so rewarding because I got a promotion to Leasing Manager within the first year which is my current position. As a leasing agent out of 344 leases that the team retrieved within my first year 178 were mine. This made me so happy. I made a lot of money as a Leasing Agent and gained all of the confidence in the world which was one of my goals. My journey was not easy. I came across a lot of challenges. Apartments not being ready on move in day, trying to make sure all paperwork is together before moving in, leaks, etc. How I overcame these obstacles was to just BREATHE. I also started taking my health way more serious and I became a wellness coach as well. Working out and running is a safe space for me and helps with stress. A lot of people ask me why not become a Property Manager? Well in due time. I am trusting the process and I feel more confident enough to finally place with the right broker as a realtor and sell million-dollar homes. lol. My challenges are a little different now. Managing a team of 4 and still moving my own prospects in, making sure my team is on point and were all on the same page. My next goal is to become a spin instructor and keep thriving in property management until I come across the broker that is for me. I want the world to know that any journey you decide to go on will never be easy. You just have to trust that God will never put anything on you that you can’t truly handle.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmm. I would start off by taking them to my favorite running trail for the views. Atlanta is the city of it all. Great food, good vibes, and everyone comes here to fulfil a good time. With me working for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United I would definitely want them to attend a game. We would eat at Edgewood Pizza and relax at spa land for massages. One thing about me when I get to know new people and they become my friends I always make sure we do things they truly enjoy doing as well as showing them new things that I’m sure they would love.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first recognition would go to GOD. Without God I would be no one. My wife Mercedes. my son Ty and family play a big part in my success. Often times people forget to thank the people they’ve lost along the way. The toxic friendships, the one-sided connections and all of the negative things that I decided to let go in order to become a better person. We don’t talk enough about the things you’ve let go that has help mold you into the successful person you may be today. For me I spent so much time working for companies who never noticed me, and the company I work for now definitely took a risk and chose to invest in me!
