We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlene Wilhelmsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlene, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The key to Wazuri Cosmetics’ success lies in my capacity to establish strong connections with our customers and deliver a highly effective product that delivers instant results, leaving customers with a magical experience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an entrepreneur is a challenging journey that demands discipline, drive, consistency, and determination fueled by a strong mission and passion. I am fortunate to possess these qualities in my arsenal, understanding that they may not always manifest simultaneously. However, I have realized the importance of having a reliable support system to keep me grounded. What sets our products apart is not only their natural composition with premium ingredients but also the meticulous blending process that ensures a perfect combination. This approach enables us to cater to a diverse clientele. I am passionate about products that deliver on their promises and prioritize efficacy. It was essential for my company to embody this principle. Our brand name, meaning “Beautiful people” in Ki Swahili, reflects our dedication to promoting beautiful skin on beautiful people. Ultimately, it is all about the holistic experience – from the customer purchase to the sealed packaging, the usage and the post-application sensation. This comprehensive experience is something our customers appreciate, as evidenced by our testimonials.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta offers a plethora of incredible attractions that I would include in my itinerary. We will kick off our days with an invigorating bootcamp workout at 5:30 am at Effect Fitness led by Dooley, followed by a Pilates session at Stretch Atl.
Top neighborhoods worth visiting include The Historic West End, Atlanta University Center, Little Five Points, East Point, Hapeville, Virginia Highlands, Morningside, and Buckhead. Some of the restaurants to visit include Rosie’s Cafe on Sylvan Road, Sevananda Vegan Hot Bar, Arden’s Garden Juices and Smoothies, Zunzi’s Atlanta, Ponce City Market, Sri Thai Midtown, Naan Thai Fine Dining, Gocha’s Breakfast Bar, and Tassili’s Raw Reality. We would definitely hang out on Wednesday night at the Atlanta Vegan Social. Piedmont Park and Grant Park are must-visit parks without a doubt. No trip would be complete without of course visiting the infamous Lenox Mall and Atlantic Station.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I must express my gratitude to two entities that have played a significant role in my journey. Firstly, I want to acknowledge Effect Fitness on Metropolitan Pkwy in South West Atlanta. Effect Fitness has an Urban Market that provides a space for Entrepreneurs to showcase their products every weekend, enabling me to refine my skills and connect with a diverse audience. The feedback and trust I built with my gym family allowed me to experiment with new scents and packaging ideas before making final decisions. Their insights have been invaluable in shaping my brand. Additionally, I want to give a special mention to Sevananda, the first store that accepted my products. Being featured in Sevananda, the oldest wellness store in Atlanta located in Little 5 points, was crucial for establishing credibility and trust in my brand. I am grateful to both entities for their belief in me and the opportunities they have provided for my growth.
