We had the good fortune of connecting with Char Curry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Char, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Northern California. I’m from The Bay Area, but went to school down in the valley.

I was born into trauma as the product of 2 drug addicts. I was born addicted to multiple drugs: crack, heroine, alcohol & marijuana. At the age of 2 months old I stopped breathing due to having a “baby stroke” and they brought me back. Due to the pregnancy being so harsh on me, physicians declared that I’d always have learning disabilities & school would be difficult for me, yet I was always one of the smartest kids in the class, as well as in gifted classes. In high school, my IQ was tested multiple times and was always above 140. I say this to say I guess God’s power trumped they’re professional predictions of me. LOL

When I was 3 years old my great grandparents became the legal guardian of myself and my 4 older sisters. This was one of the greatest things that ever happened! The morals, values, manners and standards they imparted into my life were priceless. Due to getting those jewels and gems, plus their wisdom is what helped to shape me into the woman I am today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Prior to becoming a fulltime entrepreneur & author, I was an executive assistant, an HR coordinator and a surgical unit CNA. These 3 positions are part of what gave me the toolsI needed in order to succeed as a successful entrepreneur.

In March of 2023, I quit my job and began working for myself full time. This was not an easy decision, because I knew it would be a steep climb, but I knew it was necessary for where I wanted to be, and knew it was inevitable for what God proposed for my life to be for myself and others. I knew I was called to the masses, so the change was necessary.

The profession that best prepared me for the now was that of an executive assistant. I picked up priceless gems along the way that are now helping me to be a better business woman. I’m proud of the growth I’ve experienced in the past 10 years. I am now living out my dreams. I couldn’t have done it without taking risks and betting on myself. So, I’d like to thank me, for my hard work, consistency and my dedication.

Can you tell us about what you’re currently working on & what goals you have for your future?
I am the #1 Female Advocate for men, but also a sister to women. The reason why I do what I do is because I feel like upstanding men get the short end of the stick due to us as women not dealing with childhood trauma, things we experienced as an adolescent, and also turmoil we’ve gone through from previous partners. As women we have blogs, magazines, TV shows, grandmas, sisters, brothers, aunties and cousins that we can go to when we need to talk or vent. Men, on the other hand, don’t usually have a safe space. Many times, as a chain reaction to not having outlets, a lot of men end up offing themselves due to a disagreement or argument with their significant other. I know because I went through it. That’s how I’m able to help so many others. On average, 2-5 million people are watching what I post & countless lives are being changed. I am grateful to be spearheading this change. God sent me. This is my purpose.

I am currently working on my TV show based out of Atlanta. This will be a talk show which focuses on mental wellness & how to have better connections and relationships, but we will cover a broad range of topics. I am extremely excited for you all to come along this journey with me!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hey Bestie! LOL

You have to check out Gosha’s Breakfast Bar! When I say the food is good, baby, it is good! lol I love the family type of atmosphere it brings.

Don’t leave out the aquarium! It has so much state of the art technology grouped in with the most exotic aquatics. Love it there!

If you’re into football, you’ll probably enjoy the tailgate life more than the game, to be honest! lol The real party is in the parking lots and surrounding areas of The Mercedes Benz Stadium!

Last but not least, if you’re into beers and ales, you’ll want to visit Atlantucky, which is located on Northside Dr. They have some of the best ales. I don’t drink beer often, but their amber ales are crisp, fresha and have an impeccable taste to them.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shoutout to my children. They are my biggest supporters and encouragers & are super consistent in being that for me. I’m grateful to have an amazing set of children who are generous, kind and gifted.

I must also thank my late great grandparents, grandmother (whom I’m named after), my mother & my father. They all gave me something invaluable: life.

A book that changed my life is actually a small pamphlet by Charles Capps. The book is called ‘God’s Creative Power’. There were two specific tools I took away from this piece of work, they are:

1. My words are powerful when spoken, so I use my words for the greater good.
2. I must rule over my thoughts, so they don’t rule over my spirit.

A special shoutout to:

My friend/confidant/brother & book mentor – he knows me better than anybody on the planet, Antjuan Cox.

I’d also like to thank Joshua Sr., Bryan, & Parris. These 3 men are the men I’ve learned the most from, in regards to my own personal growth. Even though I didn’t see it at the time, it worked together for my good. I am forever grateful to God for bringing each of them into my life.
