We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanel M and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanel, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Well I’ve been a hairstylist for 14yrs. Going into business for myself was always a goal for me and after gaining the experience and the knowledge it was time for me to step out on my own
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After I completed cosmetology school I worked as a receptionist and shampoo assistant. I was always amazed watching hair stylist bring out the very best in their clients. I wanted to duplicate that same experience for my own brand & clients. I always believed that going to the hair salon/barber shop was therapeutic in its own way. As hairstylist I believe we have the ability to uplift our clients no matter what challenges they may be facing so when they leave the salon not only do get that desired look but also confident as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well living in Atlanta there are so many options. I usually tell people whatever you’re into I’m sure it happens here once a year lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a number of mentors and even clients I had over the years that were instrumental in molding me into the business owner I am today. It’s been a long time coming and really give the credit to those individuals that have been there from the start.
