We had the good fortune of connecting with Chandler Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chandler, what are you inspired by?
I believe my inspiration changes by season, i find inspiration in different things throughout the year and small amounts of these things may stick with me through time. Most recently i can say I am heavily inspired by life. The way the world works, its intricacies, its details. I find lots of beauty in living things, anything from the leaves of a banana tree to mans greatest tool, our hands. The delicacies of such can bring forth the groundwork for gorgeous projects. On the other hand i can draw inspiration from older ideas that i may have visited in older projects, such as art works, which was the main focus of the fall winter 2019 collection, anything from paintings, drawings, and sculptures. You will see this in the things that i make.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art can be called eccentric, and my medium is fashion, at the end of the day im a fashion designer, and id say what sets me apart from the others is simply my artistic style. You can tell if a painting is authentic based on the style of painting you see on canvas, this translates directly in my work, but in fashion that’s not enough. Chandler Paul clothing is artistic in nature but i focus very heavily on detail and quality, as most fashion designers should. You cant find what i make anywhere else.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Atlanta id say my absolute favorite spot is Ponce City Market, everything from the food to the people, Ponce is absolutely gorgeous. The history of the building is fascinating along with the modern day artisans inside. I find lots of joy in visiting as often as i can. Another place would be the High Museum of Art, the art world has always intrigued me in many ways, i visit the museum quite a lot as a quiet place, an escape if you will. the works inside tell stories that i could listen to every day. Id love to share it with anyone. For food, other than the many selections at Ponce, id love to visit the landmark locations of Atlanta, such as the Original J.R. Crickets, or the Varsity. Places that are iconic to the city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout two people i consider to be my brothers. Kobe and Brandon, ive known these two for almost a decade and i can honestly say i am very lucky to have met them in such an early time. I practically grew up with them. Both of them have gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life, they both inspire me in their dedication to what they do. They taught me many things about culture i would not have known otherwise, they have opened my eyes to things i would not have seen. So shoutout to them for being the greatest brothers i could have asked for. Thank you Kobe Thank you Brandon
