We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanda Aklss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked at a lot of different gyms and hated the way members were just another number to keep the bottom line greater. I wanted members to feel like their goals and desire to have the fitness experience they desire matter.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Akles Consulting, LLC and through my LLC I DBA CMA Fitness which is a dual side gym housing a modern chic fitness center, women’s fit area, a group fitness area for the hyper classes in Mid-GA and The Dungeon – raw gym for those that don’t like too many gym rules – just go hard and have fun doing it!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Main Street Bar in Perry, GA for a good bourbon, wine and an amazing charcuterie board. There’s also Props in Warner Robins – amazing food from the best culinary chefs in the area. Coffee – Between Friends in Warner Robins is great as well!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Kelvin Akles, is who inspired and encouraged me to build my own brand and work toward ownership. He always told me to move forward on what I have passion for because that’s what having a passion is for. My entire family is very supportive!
