We had the good fortune of connecting with Celest Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Celest, what principle do you value most?
“The value or principle that matters most to me is quality — in the way I live my life, in my relationships with family and friends, and in the artistic creations I present to the world. While ‘YOLO’ is a relatively new phrase, its truth resonates deeply with me. I believe nurturing myself enhances the quality of my life and in the way I interact with those around me. Family and friends are precious gifts that should never be taken for granted. These relationships should be nurtured with love, patience, understanding, and acceptance. Additionally, I place great importance on the quality of my designs because my customers entrust me to help them express their unique personalities through my statement pieces, which are reflections of who they are. I deeply appreciate their choice and investment in my creativity.”
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“What sets me apart from others is the ‘secret sauce’—ME! There is and never will be another exquisite creature like me. My designs are born from a love of gemstones, pearls, and beautiful beads. As I create, I feel these materials harmoniously aligning, speaking to me as I am creating these stunning designs that manifest before my eyes. Each piece is an expression of my unique essence, my ‘secret sauce.’ I believe my customers and admirers sense this essence when they choose these statement pieces, seeing them as reflections of their own identities. It gives me enormous joy to witness my designs come to life on the fabulous women who wear them.
“My journey began unexpectedly while browsing a craft store in search of glue. There, I stumbled upon ‘Friendly Plastic’ and felt a nudge to experiment with this new medium. My first pair of earrings were created, and the moment someone offered to purchase them, I was ecstatic—my very first sale. This marked the beginning. Subsequently, I began contacting buyers and I hosted my first Trunk show at Macy’s (then Rich’s), which proved successful enough to expand into multiple Rich’s Department Stores across Atlanta and Memphis, TN.
“Entrepreneurship has posed its challenges, and at times, I’ve encountered that familiar voice urging me to give up. Yet, with unwavering support from my husband and family, I’ve navigated each hurdle, overcome despair, and continued forward. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is to persist despite setbacks, nurturing my dream and trusting that there will always be someone who appreciates the essence of my ‘secret sauce.’ After all, I wouldn’t have been bestowed with this talent and dream.
“I am passionate about creating these designs and often overwhelmed by the impact of my statement pieces. It brings me immense pleasure when my customers share in this joy. For any concerns or inquiries they may have, I am always an email or phone call away.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
“Wow! Atlanta is such a beautiful city. If my best friend were visiting, I’d start with a taste of the South and smooth jazz at Coaxum’s Low Country Cuisine restaurant, followed by a tour of the Hammonds House Museum and the World of Coke. We’d then head to Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint for another dressed-up soul food experience, explore the waterfalls in the North Georgia mountains, and enjoy lunch at Wolf Mountain Winery. Back in the city, we’d soak in more soulful sounds at the City Winery, do a little shopping at Atlantic Station and Ponce City Market, and cap it off with a visit to one of the city’s relaxing spas.”
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mother and Aunt always believed in my creative talent. They organized my very first home show. Though they have both passed away, I want them to know how much those initial words of love and encouragement gave me the confidence to grow and become the creative person I am still evolving into. I love and miss you both dearly.
