We had the good fortune of connecting with Cami Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cami, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been creative and crafty. My mom and my aunt are the same exact way. I think their artsy ways poured over to me and I’ve accepted it! I always wanted to be in charge of making things “pretty” for family functions or creating some type of visual for guests. My mind has a way of imagining something and my hands actually bring it to life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My business and my full-time job are the top two things that keep me busy. I work in a Pathology Lab full-time, and as you know I have an event producing and design business. I provide a few different services through Cami Callin’ Shots LLC such as event producing, event design, intimate dinner parties, and balloons art (ie. garlands and arches). Honestly, anything you can think of EXCEPT weddings. When I’m not working events, I’m working on other projects with creatives in the city. I was recently hired as a set designer for Connect The Series, which was a really dope experience being on set. My creativity created a pathway for me in so many different industries that I would have never imagined. Everything I do is so much fun, that I forget about how busy I actually am. I get the opportunity to wear so many different hats that it is impossible to place me in a box.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love food and I love brunch even more! If you haven’t eaten at The West Egg Café, you have to give it a try! They have THE best sour cream pancakes and you can get a nice ice cold mimosa! Thumbs Up Diner is also ua great brunch spot. The fried fish and grits is to die for! The Spinning Pie is great for laidback type of vibes, especially if you want to watch a game and eat New York Styled pizza!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh goodness! This is special! First, I have to give a mega shoutout to my Lord and Savior, as He is the one who blessed me with these gifts! I would like to give a huge shoutout to my bible study group, Women in Transition. I learned so much about myself and my walk with God within this past year, that I would not have been able to do it without my purpose partners and the founder herself, Abriel Farrow! I would also like to give my therapist a shoutout! I started therapy back in July of 2020 and she has been a HUGE asset to my life! I have grown so much personally because of her! Last but not least, I would like to give a shoutout to my mentor Denise! CEO of CreatiVisuals! Denise is such a force!! She enjoys helping women, like myself, win and succeed in their craft! She has been one of the main reasons why my business leveled up in 2020!
