We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron M. Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cameron M., what role has risk played in your life or career?
Me personally, I feel as that you must take risks/sacrifices at some point in your life in order to be successful. Taking risks is one of the most pivotal ways to advance a person’s mentality, skills, and everyday interactions. When looking at my life, I had to take numerous of risks in order to even being halfway successful. While coming out of high school, I had aspirations of attending a Division 1 school for football with a full ride scholarship in which I didn’t receive because of various reason. Savannah State University, which was Division 1 at the time, reached out and gave me an “Preferred Walk-On Offer” in which is an opportunity to play and receive all the benefits as a full scholarship person with the exception of receiving no money. I knew I had what it took through all the hard work and risks/sacrifices I endured along the way so I ended up attending with nothing to lose. By the first game of the season against UAB, I not only earned a full scholarship for school but started every game since then and was very productive and named one of the defensive captains in a span of two weeks. That’s why I believe that no matter who you are or where you are in life, it’s so crucial and Imperative that you must take risks in life so you leave yourself with no doubts.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently, I just graduated from Savannah State University (Class of 22) majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and started on my Masters at Murray State University in Public Relations. Now, Im training for professional football right now with no job occupation.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Personally, I don’t travel nor go out much due to me being a country boy but I would recommend anywhere Downtown Atlanta/Buckhead. I will say if you want some great southern soul food to visit the restaurant Paschals but there are a lot of great restaurants downtown Atlanta as well as bars and club venue’s.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I have to give honor to God who is the head of my life and who has continuously look after me and bless me everyday! Without him, I would be nothing. I would like to thank my parents, Meashaun and Michael Brown, for providing for me and for being such great parents. I would like to thank all my family members, church family, teachers/coaches, and friends who have been overly supportive of me all my life. I would like to thank all of my high school football coaches for believing in me and my capabilities. I would like to thank Coach Nate Scola for recruiting me and giving me a opportunity to play Division 1 football. I would like to thank Coach Tom Sims for being there and elevating my game. I would like to thank Coach Dillon Sanders at Murray State for recruiting me and giving me an opportunity to come play. Special shoutout to Walnut Grove High School and The Savannah State University! Lastly, a special shoutout to my hometown Monroe, Georgia!
