We had the good fortune of connecting with Caden Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caden, can you tell us the story of how you started your business?
I was inspired to start a business after my sister started her business. I saw her making money and inspiring other people and it made me want to do the same thing. I couldn’t figure out what my “THING” that stood out was or how I would inspire other people easily. I was attracted to making my own money though. I had figured out that money gives you choices. I began taking classes on financial literacy but what I found was all of the classes were taught to children by adults. Here was my “THING” Financial literacy taught by a kid for kids. Studies show that kid learn easily from their peers. I created my own financial tools for kids to learn and earn money. I created flashcards, activity books, courses and my newest released book” Caden’s Rich Kid Guide, How to Make 10k Under 10 Years Old.” My very 1st customers came by me pre-selling my product. I used the pre-sell money to fund the 1st batch of flashcards, then I sold them online and at vending events. I continued putting that money back into my business which led to me creating all of my other products.

What should our readers know about your business?
The thing that makes me most excited about my business is when I get to speak to large crowds of kids. I have spoke at career days, workshops and several events. I speak to kids about financial literacy and overcoming. Speaking means the most to me because early in life one of the challenges I had to overcome was talking. Something that was so simple to everyone else was hard for me. I went through years of speech therapy. I went from no one being able to understand me, to now being able to speak clearly to a crowd of my peers. It makes me proud when my peers approach me after an event and they are inspired to start a business, write a book or they are motivated to overcome a challenge. I learned that how you start off doesn’t mean you’re going to finish the same way.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend were visiting my area I would take them right to the Atlanta Airport and we would take a flight to Cartegena, Colombia. It’s one of my favorite places. My family and I visited there last summer. After arriving at the airport in Colombia we would hop on a chartered boat and head to a rented private island. The same one my family rented. My best friend and I would drop off our bags then hop back on the boat and head to party island, located in the Rosario Isles. Once we arrive at party island where the Spanish inspired music is playing from the speakers of the beach resturant. The waiter would pull their boat up next to ours to take our order. Once the food was prepared on the beach we would enjoy the cooked shrimp, lobster and salt fish right in the privacy of our private boat. We would spend the rest of the week visiting various beaches and snorkeling in different areas of the water. I would take my best friend to the aquarium centered right in the middle of the waterway. We would have a dolphin encounter where we swim with a dolphin and afterwards feed the nurse sharks. We would spend our last day resting in the cabana of our private island while the hired chef prepared our last Columbian inspired dish.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents helped me start my very 1st business at 7 years old. I am 9 years old now and I attribute all of my success, wins and opportunities to them teaching me everything I know about business and money. They have always put me in front of the right people to help me win and learn how to support my community. I love and appreciated them both.
