We had the good fortune of connecting with Brytani (brytan Renee’) Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brytani (Brytan Renee’), why did you pursue a creative career?
Why did I decide to pursue an artistic or creative career?

I’ve always been a writer—since I was a little girl, books transported me to another world. My love for music has also been a constant, with Kanye being one of my biggest inspirations. As a kid, I dreamed of becoming a Victoria’s Secret model after watching America’s Next Top Model. That dream evolved when I discovered Issa Rae in middle school. Seeing her create and thrive made me realize I could pursue any path I wanted.

In November 2019, after my last suicide attempt, I left the hospital with a newfound inspiration to share my story. That’s when I started my podcast, Ish Happens. From there, opportunities began unfolding—I was booked for photo shoots, featured in music videos, and transitioned from being the interviewer to the interviewee.

I even started a branding and consulting firm to help other artists build their brands. However, after pouring so much energy into people who weren’t fully invested in their craft, I decided to go all-in on myself as an artist. In 2022, I published my first book, Something’s Gotta Give: The Manifesto, and I’m currently working on my debut album.

Art has been my outlet, my therapy, and my voice—and this journey continues to fuel my passion for creating and inspiring others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is an authentic reflection of my life—my experiences, emotions, and growth. I’m an actress, writer, musician, and storyteller who creates across multiple mediums, from books to music, film, and comedy. What sets me apart is my ability to merge vulnerability and creativity, delivering stories that resonate deeply while maintaining a fresh perspective. Whether I’m acting in a Tubi feature, creating comedy skits with Yusuf Gray, or writing a modern stage adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, my focus is always on producing work that feels real and impactful.

I’m most excited about the projects I’m currently working on: my debut album, a motivational book called Everything is Earned, a trilogy of novels starting with Something’s Gotta Give, and my children’s book series. These projects span different genres and audiences, but they all share the same foundation: inspiring others and showcasing the power of transformation.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. After my last suicide attempt in 2019, I left the hospital determined to turn my pain into purpose. I started Ish Happens, an international podcast, which opened the door to opportunities in modeling, music, and acting. But the journey has been filled with challenges—financial struggles, self-doubt, and moments of burnout. At one point, I even ran a branding and consulting firm to help other artists. While rewarding, it was hard to see others not fully commit to their craft. That experience taught me the importance of investing in myself and my own artistry.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that consistency and self-belief are everything. Even when things seem impossible, taking one small step can lead to incredible opportunities. I also learned that collaboration and community are key—I wouldn’t be here without the support of mentors, friends, and my audience.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I’m committed to creating art that inspires, empowers, and entertains. My journey is a testament to the idea that it’s never too late to rewrite your story and follow your dreams. I hope my work encourages others to push past their fears and embrace their unique paths.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I recently moved to Atlanta from Virginia, I’m still exploring the city and discovering all the gems it has to offer. That said, there are a few spots I’d definitely include for an unforgettable week!

Day 1: Comedy and Good Vibes
We’d kick things off with a visit to Uptown Comedy Corner. It’s not only where I work but also one of the best places in the city to catch incredible comedians and laugh the night away. It’s the perfect introduction to Atlanta’s vibrant entertainment scene.

Day 2: Brunch and BeltLine Exploring
We’d have brunch at Breakfast at Barney’s—known for its upscale Southern comfort food and amazing vibes. Afterward, we’d explore the Atlanta BeltLine, a beautiful trail that’s perfect for walking, biking, or just soaking in some local art and culture.

Day 3: Culture and History
We’d dive into Atlanta’s rich history with a visit to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. It’s such a powerful and inspiring experience. Then, we’d stop by Ponce City Market for lunch, shopping, and rooftop views.

Day 4: Food and Fun
I’d take my friend to Slutty Vegan, a must-visit spot for plant-based burgers that even meat lovers rave about. For drinks, we’d hit up the Painted Pin, a cool boutique bowling alley with a great atmosphere.

Day 5: Art and Inspiration
We’d visit the High Museum of Art to check out some amazing exhibits, followed by a stroll through Piedmont Park. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and relax while still being in the heart of the city.

Day 6: Music and Nightlife
Atlanta is the home of hip-hop, so we’d have to catch some live music at a spot like The Masquerade or attend a local event showcasing upcoming artists. For a nightcap, Edgewood Avenue has some of the best nightlife with bars and lounges to fit any vibe.

Day 7: Sunday Funday
To close out the week, we’d do a classic Southern Sunday. Start with a soulful meal at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, then wind down at the Trap Music Museum for a fun and unique cultural experience.

Atlanta is such an exciting city with so much to offer—I can’t wait to keep exploring and uncover even more amazing spots!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Who deserves credit and recognition in my story?

My journey wouldn’t be what it is without the love, support, and encouragement of so many people. First, I’d like to shout out my grandparents Sharon & Algernon Bean for always believing in me and teaching me resilience. She’s been my biggest cheerleader and an example of strength.

I also have to credit my faith and relationship with God, which has grounded me and given me purpose through life’s toughest moments.

From a creative perspective, artists like Kanye West and Issa Rae have been pivotal inspirations. Kanye’s artistry and ability to push boundaries have influenced my approach to music and creativity, while Issa Rae’s storytelling and authenticity helped me believe I could achieve anything I set my mind to.

Finally, my community deserves recognition. Whether it’s my friends who’ve been my sounding board, mentors who’ve shared invaluable wisdom, or the supporters who engage with my work—they’ve all played a part in keeping me motivated and focused.
