We had the good fortune of connecting with Brucee Denise Olds and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brucee Denise, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’m definitely a risk-taker!
I look at risk-taking as getting out of my own way or, in other words getting out of my comfort zone. It played a major role that led me to Atlanta. I had quit my job in Florida and moved here without a job, but I was determined to succeed in the field of Human Resources. Trust me, it was terrifying moving without a solid plan, but I wanted better for myself, which was so motivating.
That scary risk I took in 2014 has afforded me to do some amazing things personally and professionally.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, well, well. For starters, I consider myself a non-traditional Human Resources Professional. That there sets me apart from others. I most proud of being the professional I am today and the greatness I’ve accomplished along the way. A little more about this Campbellton, Florida native- I’m just a girl who decided to go for it. I leaned heavily on Faith and Determination because it was far from easy but definitely worth every challenge and difficulty I’ve faced.
I have over 12 years of experience in various areas of Human Resources. My industry expertise includes tech, retail, media-marketing advertising, human capital management, and local government.
I’m currently the Human Resources Operations Manager with the XD Agency, a creative agency that designs experiences for BOLD brands – such as Porsche, Mercedes Benz, HBO, and the list goes on with responsibility for recruitment, total rewards, compliance. Previously, was the Payroll & Benefits Operations Manager with TikTok. There, I oversaw all US Payroll and Benefits operations,
Aside from the corporate space, I am a Career Motivator and founder of the BOlds Agency, leading clients toward their career goals by building their confidence and helping break free of limited mindsets to exceed their expectations.
I learned many gems along the way. The one that sticks with me especially nowadays- is that your wellbeing is never worth compromising- not all things are worth being resilient through!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LOL I am that fun friend that knows a lot of spots around the city!
I’m outside all the time so we would be every where-
Monday- casual dinner and drinks at Crab 404
Tuesday- Sovereign Sweets drinks and live music
Wednesday -Tom Dick and Hanks then the parlor den
Thursday- Whiskey Mistress
Friday- the W midtown then Rock Steady
Saturday- a good workout with Legend Health, shopping at North Georgia Outlets in Dawsonville
Sunday- Brunch at Roc South, then the Red Pepper on Piedmont
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
OMG… I have some amazing people behind me and my success.
My family and friends- for being there during the highs and lows of my journey… I love yall
My YellowPages co-workers for molding the young me into the professional I am today.
My Mentees- believe it or not, I’m learning from you all just much as you all are learning from me — keep shining!
The Memo by Minda Harts- is a near and dear book that has helped me “secure the seat at the table.”
