We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Armstrong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, what do you attribute your success to?
Trust. People trust me with their photos and image. I build a relationship with those I photograph and I capture them in some of their very unguarded and most beautiful moments.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Always dream big and never give up on those dreams.
I was divorced at 41 and wanted to pursue modeling and open a photography business. I can gladly say I’ve done those things.
If I can do it…you can too!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a homebody, contrary to popular belief so we would stay very close to my home.
I’d have to call someone and find out the best happening spots to go!
But, anything Elvis related, Im game.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course my family, loyal friends,
In regards to my photography business and really helping me launch it off the ground:
Chuck St. John-Everything I know about professional photography is owed to him. He is also my BTS video editor and photo editor at Brooklyn Photography Studios. I only edit 20 percent’s of my photos currently. It is an art all by itself.
Myrisa Weathers: Red Models & Talent- Who always makes herself available for me to shoot and try out new stuff with the camera and who was the featured model in my Gatsby Inspo AD piece for Brooklyn Photography featured in BMetro magazine of Birmingham, AL.
Lee St John(Best Friend), Tamela Eaton & Preslee Eaton: They entrusted me with Preslee for my very first pageant photos I took for my website.
Wendy Blankenship: Consistent mentorship and friendship. She runs a successful salon in MCCalla, AL, named Scissor Salon. You always get advice from successful people that are doing it! Remember that! People LOVE to give you advice about how to run your business or what you should do and they aren’t even a business owner themselves.
Always seek advice from those who are doing it now! 🫶🏼
