We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial way of thinking when it comes to my creativity. I also knew I always wanted to own my own business and bring my gifts and abilities to work. I had always been the girl in the corner with the camera at all of the beautiful events in my life. I would always want to capture precious moments and believed them to be such a gift to whomever was involved. I had been asked on numerous occasions to help with party planning, set ups and events and I would take it all on because it excited me! I loved creating and seeing the final results come to life. You could really feel the warm smiles and energies in the room as you are able to provoke emotion through image, settings and pictures and that was the biggest blessing. I knew that this is what made me happy and this is what I wanted to give back to people — memories. I continued to capture beautiful pictures with friends, started attending photography school and finally LLC’d my business in 2019. I now happily and humbly provide photography services to the Atlanta area.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love to capture intimate moments that strikes emotion with people, those are the best photographs. Sweet candids, close ups, laughter and love shown are the best quality photos to me. I love to gift the emotion of a moment or experience through image for someone. I want my photographs to allow a person to feel that moment again by the subject, details and intensity of the photo. That is what is special to me because anyone can take a picture but a true photographer is passionate about capturing the emotion of the moment. I hope that I can bring light and love to the world through photos. I hope that I can spark laughter, happiness and peace for others. Photos are a special thing that allows us to see and reminisce on the most special times of our lives so they are to be captured and cherished for as long as possible. I have personally felt moved by finding or receiving a picture of someone special to me, maybe an old photo that I had never seen or a photo of someone we thought we had none of. First birthdays, graduations and pregnancy journeys… things we want to cherish forever. Capturing these special moments will allow that memory to live on forever.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Decatur, GA which is probably one of the most foodie cities in Georgia, so there are hundreds of places to go and experience good food and drinks. This is where you’d find my husband and I when we’re not working, out in about in our cute little community. We have the best of both worlds living in the suburbs of the city. From artsy breweries, walking the beltline, street biking or doing yoga in the park. There is so much to do in this city and surrounding areas, which makes it nice when you want to get out and enjoy yourself.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that are apart of my story, that did so much for me and always believed in me. My amazing husband who will pull over just so I can capture a good shot, come with me to photoshoots to help me put up/breakdown my equipment or chooses to understand when I ask to spend hundreds on camera equipment to better my brand. He believes this is part of God’s purpose for me so he supports it fully and I am so appreciative of that, more than he knows. My amazing family has loved and supported me through this entire journey as well. My beautiful friend who gifted me my first baby camera, handed it to me and said “I thought of you when I found it and knew you’d use it.” She was my confirmation of building my brand and I love her for that!
