We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Dunlap and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
So, to start I am a parent to one amazing 10-year-old boy. He is my pride and joy. I think the most important thing I’ve done as a parent is to teach my son respect, kindness, and that time is one of the most precious and essential components to life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is my passion, my everlasting love and my peace. Art and creativity has always been apart of me. I have a BA in theatre and that has really motivated me to pursue my current field of creative work. I am a face painter, balloon artist, henna artist, muralist and more. The learning process for this field was easy because it is fun; it doesn’t feel like work. After having my son over 10 years ago, I wanted to be in a career that afforded me the time to raise, nurture, and teach him on my terms.

Challenges are inevitable when pursuing your dreams. I have had moments of insecurity, thinking I have to work a part-time or full-time job in order to take care of my family but I kept going. I was working a part-time job and doing my art services on the weekends but now I am a full time “artpreneur/mompreneur.” Business has its up and downs but I refuse to let go of being in a business that brings joy to children and adults alike.

I think my diversity in art services, being able to do so many different things, sets me apart from others. I am most excited to see what’s next; to see where my talents will take me and how I can influence and help others to do the same in their lives.

I want the world to know that I am passionate about what I do and put love into every opportunity and experience I have to do my art. I am multitalented and love sharing my gifts with the world. As far as my brand, it is BZ ArtZ. which stems from my son and I’s initials, B and Z. I am always reminded of why I am doing what I do. Without becoming a mother, I don’t know if I would have ever be driven to pursue this career path. I thank you son for being my greatest motivation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Week with Bestie:
Destan Ethiopian Kitchen
Mr. Diddy
Bar Vegan
Botanical Gardens
Ponce City Market
Beltline
Fun Spot

Those are a few things to do and places we would go in a week’s time. But just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company would be the best part of the visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The main person that I dedicate this shoutout to is my mother. A woman of style, grace, confidence and beauty outside and within. My son also deserves credit and recognition because his existence has influenced me to go after my dreams so I can be an example for him to always follow his dreams.
