We had the good fortune of connecting with Britta Borden-Tabor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britta, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor about my brand is to empower women to embrace their curves, make no apology for the women they are, and celebrate the woman they strive to become. Through faith and fashion, I want to help women know when they shine, they give others permission to do the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been in corporate America since I was 16 years and all of the professional growth and development during that time prepared me for a season such as this. In 2020 I made hard the decision to leave my job because of toxic work environment. I had no idea what I was going to do next in my career. My husband suggested that I stay home, go back to school and get my Master’s and continue work on content as becoming a plus size influencer on social media. All I heard was STAY HOME! Going from the corporate environment to a creative mind-set was a transition that didn’t come easy. It was like I went from being the SME (Subject Matter Expert) of ALL THINGS to knowing absolutely NOTHING! As easy as it may sound, it was difficult switching gears but when I did doors and opportunities started opening that weren’t even there!

I’m most proud of being a middle-aged woman that only earned her Master’s degree at 49 but I’m also changing the game for plus size women in fashion and encouraging them every step of the way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in the city of Atlanta there are sooooooooo options for entertainment. The itinerary would be as such: Monday – Breakfast (First Watch), Shopping (Dillard’s, Macy’s at Lenox and Nordstrom at Phipps), Lunch (Grand Luxe Cafe) and evening at home with dinner and a movie.
Tuesday – Beltline: Walk or cycle. Take in the scenery and chill. Grab some lunch Shake Shack, Girls night out with friends that live in Atlanta.
Wednesday – Fabric shopping and lunch at Pappadeaux. Dinner and entertainment at City Winery
Thursday – Boutique shopping (That’s an all day affair)
Friday – Hair and nails. Dinner and Comedy Club
Saturday – Ponce City Market
Sunday – Church, Nap and chill

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say my parents… They always encouraged me and my sister to embrace our gifts and talents to serve others well. With their little, they continued to make ways for us to have the best opportunities they could offer. They helped us to realize there’s nothing we couldn’t do when we put our minds to it. Before my mother passed in 2019, she wanted me to fully walk in my passion for fashion and empowering women. Now that’s she’s gone, I walk with my head knowing she’s proud of the path I’m taking and cheering me on every step of the way.
