Meet Britney Flanning | Dancer & Choreographer & Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Britney Flanning and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britney, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued my career because I found joy in dancing. I love to see the way the dancers moved their body’s to express how they felt! I knew I was good at dancing when I started getting bored of the same old moves our praise dancer instructor was trying to teach us! And it also was a getaway from the struggles that I was going through in my life. Once I started dancing, there would be nothing anyone could do to bring me down from true happiness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am just a normal person trying to be successful in a career that I love down! Im originally from Florida and I moved to Atlanta in 2013 with nothing but clothes! My first dance coach ever was Gwenetta Martin! My 2nd coach Nate Dotson trained me in the new form of dance that I wasn’t aware of called Yeek! I brought to the team a new form of hip-hop dancing, but the form of the dance is called Buckin aka DP! We were untouched in any kind of talent show or event. Then I got to a place where I wanted to branch off and start my own dance team. When I tell you that the process of starting your own business, is the most stressful and irritating experience I’ve ever went through it’s ridiculous. The only lesson that I can share that I’m still working on is to never give up and always go hard. You will have people in your ear telling you, you will never go far with that, or you’ll never be as pretty as girls on the TV, n you’re getting too old you need to find another hobby! Baby, I’m here to tell you nobody will ever ride hard for you then yourself! Nobody will ever know the struggles you took to get you this far! I want the world to know that I’m here and ain’t no stopping me from achieving my goals in life! Since then, I’ve worked with so many local artist and artist whose already in the industry some of the greats In fact!!! I have family that’s already in the industry shout out to them, but I’m gonna make a name for myself on my own!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend Chiquita already lives here so if anything she’s gonna show me. Yes, I’ve been living here since 2013 but I’m more of a homebody and like to watch movies and stay home and play with my kids until they irritate me lol. But I would say I like doing the escape rooms, bowling, laser tag, ice-skating, fishing, and mini golf. I’m a very competitive person so anything that I think I can beat you at….. Oh we gonna do it!!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a very small circle of people who have met over the years and grown a bond with in my life. First, I want to give a shout out to Nate Dodson because without him I wouldn’t be here in Atlanta living my dream of dancing! He is the owner of a dance team called ATL Bomb Squad that I joined in 2013. These next two people are the most important people in my life who pushes me and challenges me every day to succeed and never give up! They always see my worth and know what’s best for me even though I get them upset sometimes they still have my back wholeheartedly! Lakesha Tenny and Monika Hobbs I would not be right here today if it wasn’t y’all getting on me and giving me tough love of how this world is and I love y’all for that! I also wanna give a huge shoutout to my best friend Brittany Atkins she was n still always is my best friend and dance partner. She’s not here today too experience this with me but I know she is screaming for my greatest from heaven love you baby!
