We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Starks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Briana, what inspires you?
I am inspired by films, shows, real life situations and people. What inspires me the most is my friends and people around me. I love to see people going after what they want. No matter if its starting a business, becoming a homeowner, or creating their own content. I just love to see people, friends, family, succeeding in their gifts and purpose. Its all possible if you work hard, stay dedicated and surround yourself with like minded people.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actress, writer, producer, and now a host of a weekly Instagram Live where I chat with other up and coming actors, producers, etc, about their jouney, the business and their future. Its called Actor Chat. @actorschat on IG. Had to do that little plug real quick. LOL What sets me apart is that God created one me just like he only created one you. He also gave us the freedom of choice so I choose to walk in his path for my career, life and love. I do my best not to worry about what someone else has on their plate because I am eating as well. Create the life you want to live. You can’t live someone elses. I’m most proud about taking a leap of faith and moving out of my comfort zone. Its not easy and its scary to do but God really created a space for me. I’m grateful. What I am most excited about it the creating that I am doing. I am excited about the future. Being in a new city and really getting to study here. The script I am working on. I’m grateful and excited to wake up every morning. Everyones journey is different, and we get to certain places by taking risk or leaps of faith. As a black woman and an actress, my journey is continuously evolving and changing. I got to where I am today by investing in myself, and its a continued investment, taking classes, studying on my own, building my team, and just never giving up on myself and my gifts. Things arent always easy and I’ve had/have moments of doubt and worry but its important for me to remember who I am in God. And know whatever is for me God will not let it pass me by. Also having a strong support team of family and friends I can lean on and confide in. This is your career, your jouney, your life. You create it. Only you know whats works for you, and you know how much work you are or aren’t putting in. There no getting to the top with out putting in the work. Make a plan. Make it happen.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Now that I live in New York, there is sooooo much to do. Due to COVID I wasnt really able to explore this summer but there are so spots that I’ve been to that are nice roof top. For some reason I can only think of two, The Tillary Hotel in Brooklyn and Magic Hour in Manhattan. But again its New York so theres a lot I haven’t experienced
