We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Avalos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, what are you inspired by?
I am most often inspired by people who are underrepresented or unheard. There are so many perspectives out there that are not depicted in everyday media, and in my opinion, they are usually the most impactful, emotional, and powerful. I am an avid researcher, so that plays a large role in my creative process. I like to learn about aspects of life that I may not encounter. People deserve a voice no matter where they come from, so I am constantly inspired by their stories.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist working in advertising, my work is meant to reach the masses and touch people. I’m thrilled that the work I’m doing is going to impact people in ways they’d probably never expect. I stem my creative process from the most human elements of life, particularly ideas rooted in emotion. The road to where I am not was definitely an uphill battle, and I know it will continue to be that way for a while. I am a firm believer that the challenges we faces and the obstacles we overcome are what shapes us into the people we are meant to be. And I have found that being kind to myself really helps me get past the most difficult moments. I have learned that nothing in life is going to come easily, but that’s okay because we grow the most in the presence life’s challenges. The world should know that my brand and story is rooted in truth. I work hard to embrace honesty and reality, so that I can reach people in a relatable and emotional way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Savannah, there is plenty to do and even more to eat and drink. The Plant Riverside District is my favorite spot to go to create a “wow” moment with the beautiful art and installations. I also love a good day at the beach, with a must stop snack at Huckapoo’s for loaded nachos and a cold beer. I also love to wander around the historic district and chat about all the spooky stories that I’ve heard while I’ve lived here. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. She has always been my biggest fan and supporter, and has always pushed me to be the best version of myself. Even after her passing, I know that she is still always in my corner and cheering me on. She taught me what it means to fight for what you want out of life, and how to put my heart into everything I do. Thanks for watching over me Momma. Love you more.
