We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandy Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2015, started On the Write Track, after publishing my own memoir, Dealing with the Hand I Was Dealt, in 2014. I had a huge response to my book writing and publishing abilities and people kept asking me to help them tell their story. At first, I did it for free because I was just excited and wanted to share what I had learned. After about a year of free workshops and advice, I decided to take the next step to create a full-service publishing company assisting aspiring Authors to cross the finish line to becoming published Authors.

What should our readers know about your business?
I began this journey as an Author and as embark on my 10-year anniversary, I have now added Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Conference Host, Leadership Training Consultant, and Dr. to my name. I am most proud that I did not quit. In business, there are so many ups and downs, curve balls, disappointments, setbacks, and tears. Some days you ask yourself, “Is it really worth it?” Then you get a phone call for your services, that answers your question, “Yes”. I overcame the challenges by taking my own advice. In my book, Dealing with the Hand I Was Dealt, I talk about not allowing the cards you have been dealt to dictate your life’s outcome. The lessons that I learned along the way would be this; Choose your price based on value, not just what you think people can afford. Deal with the fear of being rejected, it’s just part of the process. Rejection is just a filtering process to get you to the perfect client. Find a way to balance your dreams, visions, and family. Your family, namely your spouse and children are important to keep you grounded and encouraged during this process. You don’t want them to resent you because you were building something they can’t see. Find a way for them to participate and take them along with you during the process so they will feel included.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in an amazing city for tourists, Greenville, SC. I would go downtown Greenville and take her to the famous Reedy Falls Park. It’s a beautiful waterfall, surrounded by walking trails, hotels, restaurants, and a walking bridge. With all the restaurant options, we would have to eat at least 3 times! A great outdoor rooftop restaurant, Up on the Roof. On our next outing, we would catch a play at the Greenville Little Theatre or the Peace Center, they always have great shows. We would also take a quick drive up to Paris Mountain and once we get to the top, we will sit on the mountain top that overlooks the city. If the Greenville Braves are playing in town, that would also be an amazing experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all of my clients, readers, and supporters. Without them, my dream would have remained just a dream. It is because of people who believed in me that I was able to pursue my dreams while assisting others in accomplishing theirs.
