We had the good fortune of connecting with BrandonR and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi BrandonR, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I always had a love for creativity and being on my own wave. Music has always been apart me as a child. I was exposed to music in different ways from participating in the church choir , to watching many family members associated with music performing & rehearsing. I also had friends that were doing their thing as well so I just watched from afar until I decided to make that transition. It’s funny cause a friend of mine said a month back “For years bro I thought you was just the homie who didn’t have no interest in making music, whole time you was behind the scenes becoming the goat.” I felt that he was saying that I just soaked in a lot until I knew it was my time to make that step.
It was only a matter of time until I found my way into being a music artist. There’s nothing like being able to express yourself on wax. The feeling of knowing others relate to my music is a beautiful thing. I want to be able to change people’s moods, feelings, attitudes, and etc. because music has done that for me in a positive way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From what many have told me in the past, my music brings “vibes.” I’ve gathered thousands of streams but the progress & and co signs are what I’m most proud of. I was chosen as a select artist for the growing Music Platform “MusicBreakr,” which help breaks unsigned artist into the music industry. I have Grammy nominated & winning producers following me and they love my sound along with radio personalities as well. It shows me that I’ve been going in the right direction and I’m grateful for that. I’ve learned to enjoy the process because that is what makes me who I am today as a recording artist. I’ve learned a lot about myself along the way. It’s easier said than done but you literally just have to do it. Don’t be afraid of failure and truly believe that you can do it. I want the world to know that BrandonR has something to say.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food would be the first go to. Everyone who knows me can vouch for me when it comes to the pleasure of eating. (Lol) BQE restaurant and Lounge is the first choice to get the Chicken & Red Velvet Waffles. They are something serious. South City Kitchen as well because I’m originally from the country and I love soul food. South City Kitchen is like bougie soul food though and it SLAPS. The presentation of the food is fancy but still brings a southern comfort. There’s many hang out spots I’ve been to. Boogaloo Lounge would be a go to spot. It has a nice vibe with the swing seats by the bar. They have solid quality food & drinks with a cool music selection as well. As far as nightclub/ bar, MJQ is definitely one of my favorite spots. It’s not your average club that would come to mind when you come to ATL. It’s a underground hole in the wall but the people and atmosphere is what makes it special on most nights I’ve went. People just get lost in the music (insanely loud)without any judgement no matter race, age , or etc. All kinds of people coming together for a collective vibe. No fights or nothing, just a good time. I always dreamed about my music bumping in MJQ one day. That would be real cool. I could go on all day with places and things to do in Atlanta. It never stops. Shout out to Atl
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate the shoutout to my mother because she has been nothing but supportive in all faucets of my life. I had singers on both sides of my family but my mother’s voice really stood out back in the day. I believe should could have definitely sang gospel professionally if she had the right resources. My mother is my rock and has honestly kept me sane in this crazy world. Major shoutout to her for what she has done and continues to do.
