We had the good fortune of connecting with Brailynn Camille Granville and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brailynn Camille, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea from Brailynn’s business came from when she was playing in her room and jumping off the bed. I told her that she needs to stop jumping off the bed before she hurt herself. She said “Mom, I flying off the bed because I’m a superhero.” This is where it all started. She loves jumping and pretending like she can fly. Jumping to her is different from jumping to other kids. Jumping is considered stimming which is a self-stimulating behavior for her. This is because she has Autism Spectrum Disorder. We also went to Paris, France in 2019 and she was able to learn about so many historic sites, attractions, and monuments outside of just the Eiffel Tower. With her various experiences with traveling and social interactions with others, we saw the need of Autism acceptance and awareness in order to yield inclusion. I put all of these together and we turned Brailynn into her own supergirl character “The Ausome Kid” ™. We then developed her book series “Adventures of the Ausome Kid” where she travels the world promoting Autism acceptance, awareness, and inclusion while encouraging kids interest in traveling, educating them on other cultures and foreign languages, while teaching them character traits such as kindness, dignity, and respect for those who are different.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Brailynn Camille is a 4x bestselling author (2x #1 bestsellers) and 2021 Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner. She receives dance training in ballet, tap, jazz, hiphop, and acro as well as voice and acting lessons.

What sets her apart from others? She is only 9 years old and has Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Language Disorder, and many other challenges. However, those diagnoses does not define who she is. It was a very rough journey. I done as much as I could to provide her the best “typical” life as possible; however, that didn’t stop her from being bullied by other children. It really hurt seeing with my own eyes the kids didn’t want to play with her, sit by her, or were being mean to her. So, I took note and we created a character to make her feel special while teaching others that everyone is different and deserves to be treated with respect. I also spoke life into her letting her know she is strong, beautiful, smart, and AUSOME. The lessons I learned is that people stay away from things they don’t understand. Therefore, we have designed this business to illustrate the details of Autism and how to appropriately treat those who may have special abilities.

We want the world to know that we will continue to tell our story through our brand and hope with can gather more support from people who are in high positions to join us on this journey. We are not here to change children with Autism to fit in with society. We are here to change society to accept children with Autism for who they are.

Brailynn is the Executive Director of our nonprofit organization, The Ausome Kid Inc. Our mission is to empower children with Autism, provide resources and assistance to impacted families, and educate our community on awareness, acceptance, and inclusion.

We call our supporters “The Ausome Link: where Autism LINKS with Society” and we use chain links to represent the union of everyone linking together for the cause. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The motivation behind our success is our NaNa, Shirley Suttle. She has been present at multiple evaluations and diagnoses along with hundreds of doctors appointments spanning from Alabama to Tennessee to Georgia. Not only was she there supporting us through the rough times, But she has been to every dance recital, showcase, speech performance, and all events we made an appearance. She has invested in the businesses and has encouraged others to do the same. This is why we dedicated the series’ first book “Brailynn Goes to Paris, France” because we had the honor of having her accompany us when we traveled Paris, France in 2019. The story and brand wouldn’t be what it is today without her.
