We had the good fortune of connecting with Aubri Ebony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aubri, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting the Model Counselor happened because I realized there was a gap in the mental health field as it pertained to models. Models experience eating disorders, casting anxiety, negative self image, depression from not booking and so much more and I felt like it needed to be brought to light. Especially in an era where models are speaking up about their traumas with photographers, I’m happy to be the one to not only help heal through the use of my Master’s Degree but also relate as someone in the industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Model Counselor is a concept that happened naturally through my experience. It’s slowly being recognized by my mental health peers as a credible topic. I’m a one woman band so the tough part about being the model counselor is that I format, host, produce, film, market all my content and events. From The Model Counselor Podcast to Pose Workshops, it’s tough to do alone but as long as I’m making process, slow progress is better than none.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ohh I love Barcelona and Regent Cocktail Club. Def start there for drinks, I’d do brunch at South City Kitchen, then grab something cool to drink like a local juice bar then walk the belt line and grab food from one of the amazing places over there. But if you ever stop in Atlanta, you have to go to Busy Bee Soulfood and you have to get a good view of the Mercedes Benz Stadium. It’s a must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, the mental health field showed me that there was this gap that needed to be filled and that’s where I start but I’m thankful to my parents for letting me use my Master’s in Marriage, Couple, Family Counseling in a way that suits my vision and for not judging me for using my degree in a non-traditional way.
