We had the good fortune of connecting with Asiah Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly my business was completely random! After graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Biology from Armstrong State University (Now known as Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus) I joined my sorority (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.) graduate chapter in my hometown. Being that I was so creative and already had a business CraftyDesignsByAsiah (where I do all things custom, balloon displays, etc) I was asked to create sugar scrubs as a gift for everyone attending the event. After the event everyone began to tell me how much they loved my sugar scrubs so I began doing research. Growing up I have always had problematic skin making the products was fun so I started Scrub Into A Glow Up!!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Scrub Into A Glow Up is all about making people love the skin they are in! My business started off as a online product based business that only sold sugar scrubs and body butters. Due to my interest in Women’s Health I later expanded my products to include Yoni Bars, Suppositories, Speciality Scrubs & Soaps. My first year of business I got the opportunity to have my products in a local gym and a well known boutique. Now it is year two and I have a full spa “Glow Bae Room” where I offer Yoni Steams and Laser Lipo & Cavitation & I have a Juice Bar! Having a business is not easy at all, you will have highs & you will have lows, but you have to keep going. Always think “what can I do different to set me apart”, “how can I expand”. Remember to always stand 10 toes behind your brand don’t worry about what the next person is doing or who isn’t supporting you that is energy wasted that can be put towards your business!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a major foodie! I love love love to eat so we would start our day off at brunch downtown visit Pineapple Ink Tavern, come to the Glow Bae Room do a Yoni Steam and have some wine, maybe go to Mexican for some margaritas, then hit up my favorite lounge Oak and end the night at Truth Night Club.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I honestly can’t give just one person a shout out. My support system is absolutely amazing! All of my friends and family go hard for my business and keep me on my toes and for that I am so grateful!
