We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Morris, Ed.D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Relationships are key. People always talking about “networking.” However, I think although networking is important, developing relationships, beyond immediate acquaintances will help in so many areas. Adam Grant’s book, Give and Take, discuss this dynamic of interacting with people, offering support and helping people along the way!
What should our readers know about your business?
Although my story may sound very linear, it did not feel that way as I moved along my journey in education! I started a teacher of preschoolers and now am a teacher of adults. I have enjoyed discovering my talents and skills and exploring how to grow and develop them. While building MTEI of Atlanta, it has been a joy to connect with schools starting in the Atlanta area and now growing into other areas of the state as well as Tennesee, Alabama, and Florida. Every business has its challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic definitely was a challenging season. We had to flip our all “in-person” courses to complete online for two of our programs. Continuing to learn how to support adult learners and Montessori schools in the area was also uncharted territory during the pandemic. Navigating zoom and the online world has actually opened up some very powerful ways to connect. Due to the success we have seen, we have decided to launch a hybrid model for two of our programs in 2022. Some “gems” we discovered were the ways adult learners connected in an online environment. I was amazing at the thoughtful responses in online forums and getting to hear from everyone!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the Atlanta Beltline- it is so fun to bring (or rent!) a bicycle and make a day of visiting restaurants and breweries, enjoying the sunshine and exploring the area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
