We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Chambers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me, the most important factor behind the success of “Ashley Danay” is to show the younger generation of my family and hometown that if you can dream of something, that it can be achieved. I’m from a very small town in South Carolina that a lot of people like me don’t make it out of. What drives me most would be my nieces. I never want them to settle for less than, just because they feel like whatever they “really want” is unachievable. It’s honestly one of the few things that keep me motivated, besides me promising myself to never give up on myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a creative, I am most proud of the fact that I and other people consider me a part of the creative community, because for a long time I was lost and finding my creativity is what keeps me sane on most days. I am very excited to see how far my creative abilities will take me in the modeling industry. I didn’t get here on anything but prayer and dedication to myself as an individual. Easy??? No! I work a 9-5 every weekday as a Registered Dental Hygienist in hopes of being able to lead my life solely off the income of my creativity in the coming days. Everyday I am met with the challenge of my dreams and my job clashing. My biggest struggle right now is overcoming the fear of quitting my “big girl job” and stepping out on faith. So I don’t think I’ve reached the point of overcoming my biggest challenge, but I overcome the smaller things by making sure I try to take every opportunity I get to put myself in front of a camera or in rooms that I want to be in; even if fear and anxiety is telling me not to. I don’t always win. One lesson that I’ve learned along the way is that baby steps are still still progress. Sometimes I get discouraged because it has taken me so long to get here and most of the time I feel like things aren’t moving as fast as I think they should, but I have to remember that it’s not me who’s in control. God is!

When people look at me, hear about me, or see me in commercial ads, or on television, I want them to know that I gave it all I had and overcame of lot of things sent to distract me, and that everyday I’m fighting and I’m winning. I want them to be motivated to chase whatever it is that won’t stop calling them, and stop silencing the call with the noise of society and what other people are telling them they should be doing with their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well honestly I’ve only been living in Atlanta for 7 months now, so I’m not too familiar with a lot of the city. So we would be exploring together. Some of the places that I have been to and enjoyed were The Georgia Aquarium, Spaceman rooftop, a Brave’s game, and walking the Beltline.

I still have lots of restaurants that I want to try and I still want to visit the Botantical Garden.
