We had the good fortune of connecting with Armando Chacon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Armando, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

At a very young age, I always wanted to pursue a career in art. As an artist with more than 20 years’ experience, I felt like I was not living my full potential. After years in the medical field (x-ray technologist), I took a leap of faith to get where I am now. Through this journey, I have learned not to let rejection and failure dictate your future. Recently, I came across the opportunity to work as a full-time artist.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am a Plein Air Painter, studio artist and muralist.  My creative process encompasses a wide range of mediums and styles. However, painting surreal and impressionist landscapes have always been my favorite. Lately, I have taken on an artistic persona, where I wear a lab coat and beret. This has allowed me to stand out and accentuate the artist character. One of the most exciting things about being an artist is doing what I love daily. My work emphasizes on capturing what is in front of me. I capture the reality of daily living with Plein Air, but my thoughts and feelings are interpreted with surrealism and abstraction.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I will take them to the Georgia Aquarium and Centennial Park to enjoy Downtown Atlanta.  For Lunch, will have some burgers and milkshakes in a nearby restaurant. In Addition, The Mercedes Benz stadium and the State Farm Arena have always something going on. Atlanta has a lot of places to visit and hang out. One good example is the Beltline and surrounding areas, makes it a wonderful place to get lost and discover new things.

Let’s not forget the many art galleries and museums, like The High Museum in Midtown that offer endless inspiration to all.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My family has always been there support me since the beginning.
