We had the good fortune of connecting with Arielle, Brittany, Devin Poteau, Sharp, Wyatt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arielle, Brittany, Devin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
For all three of us, risk has always been a pretty major part of our career growth. At some point in each of our lives, we have left jobs without having another position lined up. To be clear, while risky these moves were still calculated (none of us jumped out of the plane without a parachute). And they allowed us to aggressively pursue new opportunities without the guarantee of a regular 9-5 back-up. That uncertainty instilled a certain hunger and drive that otherwise we may not have had. We want to be clear: leaving a job without another is by no means a certain formula for success. However, in each of our situations it was necessary for a certain level of growth.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Modern Mold Agency is a boutique public relations firm specializing in PR, image consulting and visual branding. We offer a range of services to our clients from press releases to website design, social media management, video production and interview training. All three of our partners have a background in television news which gives us a unique perspective on getting our clients placement. We used to be the people PR professionals pitched to! We know what works and what a newsroom wants to see and hear. We also offer a wide skill set that helps make our products cohesive and creative. For example, one of our partners is a former news anchor. Another, a former videographer and editor. So, when a client asks for a video to be produced, we can handle it all including script writing, voice-over, videography and editing. Our PR director is also one of the leading Atlanta wedding planners. Her eye for visuals and events has helped us secure corporate clients looking to bring the luxury she provides to her brides to their business setting. While starting and running our business hasn’t been easy, there has been a certain fluidity that has come with it. We believe that is because we are walking in our purpose. We started our business based off of the skills we possess and doing things we actually love in real life. Along the way, we’ve learned how to juggle clients expectations and budgets. In the beginning we overextended ourselves and had to learn how to manage our time and lives. It’s hard to not give all of yourself to something you’ve built from the ground up but as we continue to grow we are learning when to break and rest.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely recommend a mix of outdoorsy fun and some glam nights out combing some Atlanta staples with things a little more off the beaten path. Some of the activities would include afternoon tea at the St. Regis, tubing on the Chatahoochie River, a visit to the Fernbank for the “After Dark” series that feature science and cocktails, an overnight stay camping in a yurt at Stone Mountain State Park, and an organic mani/pedi at Lark & Sparrow. Restaurants include Spoon, Fritti, Garden Room, the Consulate, and Boccaluppo.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d like to dedicate our shoutout to all of our amazing clients. We have found that so much of our business has come from referrals from satisfied clients. People who have gone above and beyond to help us secure more contracts. We feel deep gratitude for those who have felt strongly enough about our work to vouch for us and our brand. Some of the people who have gone above and beyond for us include Eliana Baucicault of the B Collective, Tamla-Oates Forney of Waste Management and Mauri Robinson.
