We had the good fortune of connecting with Aquintas Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aquintas, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My balance has changed over time in a tremendous way. Last year I was working 3 jobs and trying to maintain my business/ministry. It was very tiresome. By the end of 2020 I decided I needed to make a true faith move and take a risk. I quit 2 of my jobs and continued to trust God to provide the finances to supplement my income. I knew as long as I was working the amount of hours I was working and not putting in the same amount of time for business it would not succeed. Now I have true work life balance. I believe it is God first, then family and then business. And God provides my every need and He makes provision for my business/ministry. It is important for me to walk by faith, as well as have time for my family and my business. Take a risk. Your only failure is quitting. Walk by faith.
What should our readers know about your business?
I must truly say my business is growing through it’s process. My Life Has Destiny Corp is a women’s organization that provides resources for women in abuse and survivors. We help them to come out of abuse. We collaborate with shelters to get women to safety and our goal is to start a transition center to help women and their children get back on their feet and transition back into society.
This organization started out of my own pain. I am a survivor of abuse and I needed to help others. It is important for victims to have a support system. Victims need to know there is help and they do not have to be silent. This was not an easy ministry to start however it was a needed ministry. People have tried to shut it down, take it over, told me I could not work it because it was not a part of their ministry. But I declare we are here to stay.
My prayer is for the world to get courage and tell their story. Break their silence and don’t allow abuse to pass on for generations. I literally wrote my second book regarding this matter called “OverComing The Mask: Something Had To Break” I want the world to know they can go on regardless of what they have gone through. They do not have to allow their past to consume them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I lived in Carrolton, GA if a friend would visit I would first introduce them to my pastor. Then we would go eat at M & J Home Cooking. After that we would go to a movie at the Regal Carrollton. The following day we may go paddle boating at John Tanner Park and then we would go to Six Flags Over Georgia. And we would definitely fit in some type of church retreat. We have to balance our mind, body and soul.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to a few people. First my spiritual parents Pastor Andre & Lady Angela Mitchell. They took me under their wing during a rough patch in my life. My Spiritual Sister Carmaria Fenton – she truly supports my endeavors and Prophet Shalonda Williams a mentor after God’s own heart. I would also like to shoutout my Bestfriend Stanley Prosise for always having my back even when I am not at my best. To my cousin/brother Terrence Jackson for his love and wisdom and to Fredrick Beaty for his big heart and tenacity and Robert Ellington for his support and his sense of humor. Barbara Melvin my dear sister that keeps me on my knees. And my children and grandchildren for their love and support. My support system are they best and I love them dearly.
