We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Personally I wouldn’t use the term “give up” because it sounds like quitting. Every project, task, or obligation I finish. Everything is not meant to go on forever, and everything comes to an end. I know it is my time for me to move on or to stop when I have nothing else to say, or I reached my maximum growth in that situation. In my line of work it is attached to my perspectives, my feelings, my story. When I feel like I have shared all that I can share, I move on and put a bookend to that project.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art in a nutshell is all about transforming the client into their ideal self. The thing I am most proud of is when I collaborate with others to create art it becomes a time stamp. A moment in time where those collaborated on the project could reflect on the project fondly. Also, others viewing could use that project as a time capsule to take a glimpse into what was. My journey with art has had it challenges. I can say the way I dealt with them is by being humble and accepting advice for multiple channels. Some lessons I learned along the way would be; be prepared for things to fail, finding balance is imperative, and where you are now is not where you will be in future. If I wanted the world to know anything about Certiphied Gold it would be that I am committing myself to golden quality images.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Uuuuu… this is tough. Let it be noted that if my friend is coming to town, I would leave a lot of time open to let them decide on how they would like to enjoy the city. In between the activities they choose this is what we would be doing.
Starting the morning by running through the city, stopping by Romare Bearden Park; just to enjoy the buildings as the sun comes up. When it is time to eat we have to go Nappy Chef, La Imperia, What the Fries, and visit Black Food Truck Fridays. It will be a must to enjoy the nature side and visit Crowder’s Mountain because I love the view of the city from outside of the city. One afternoon we would go on a bike ride through the city to see the block boys ride. Lastly, we would go to Frankies so I can whop on him in Put Put, Bowling, and Air Hockey.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and Foremost, My lord and savior Jesus Christ. Secondly, amongst all the many wonderful people in the world that I have encountered, I owe my grandfather a lot of credit when it comes to who I am, as a man and as photographer. He gave me so much in terms of work ethic, being open minded, how to combat hardships, and everything else. I will forever be grateful for his consistent love and patience and the many lessons he has taught me.
