We had the good fortune of connecting with Anita Riggan Amy Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita Riggan, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
For more than five decades, Jazzercise has been committed to cultivating happier and healthier lives. Jazzercise Tyrone combines dance, strength, and resistance training with a sense of community and fun. We promote functional fitness for life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Jazzercise Tyrone is owned by two instructors: Amy Brown and Anita Riggan. While both of us were young moms looking for a fun activity with free childcare, neither of us had a fitness background. We were both referred by a friend but in two different states! Amy began her Jazzercise story in Texas while Anita started taking classes right here in Tyrone. When Amy moved to Georgia, she was already a certified instructor and began teaching in 2019. Around that time, Anita became certified, and that’s how the two met.

During the Covid pandemic, we were not allowed to get together physically and had to pivot our business model. We started streaming our classes to our members until we were able to get back into the building. Through this process, we learned that while anyone can workout alone, the gift of group fitness is truly what sets us a part. The combination of music, the thrill of dancing, and uplifting one another makes it a privilege to workout.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Obviously, you start your day working out at Jazzercise! Afterwards, there are 2 great local coffee shops right down the road. Window shopping or lunch at Trillith is just a few miles away. Or if you’re big into Walking Dead, you can do a tour of Senoia and eat there. There is no shortage of good food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jazzercise Tyrone is built on the power of relationships. Our vibrant community of instructors and members supports, motivates, and uplifts one another–working together to achieve fitness goals, build confidence, and have fun along the way.
