We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been into creative things. Being creative as a career was something that happened to me as I discovered that the possibilities of what I can do as a career are endless and up to me. I realized that my art is my life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been creative and as came to understand that I can be, do and have all that I desire my interest started to pique. My piqued interest took me back to photography, which I call my first love. Photography led me to finding my voice in many ways. Photography led me to screen printing and screen printing led me to creating my company Public Figure Brand which allows me to tap into my creativity and my entrepreneurial self. Sharing philosophies that I practice, study and believe in by way of visual art. The most challenging part of getting to where I am today has been(and still is sometimes) is controlling negative thinking and comparing myself and my journey to other people. Getting where I am today wasn’t easy because I never allowed it to be and the lessons I’ve learned along the way is that you never know who’s watching, keep going, keep your foot on the gas.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d absolutely take them to Ponce City Market and specifically to The Village Market retail, we’d hit Lil 5 points, but befor that we’d walk the belt line and lay out for a min at Piedmont, after we worked up an appetite we’d grab some Thai food or Tassilis Raw Reality, but they’d probably want to hit up Slutty Vegan to see what all the hype is about! After we eat, bowling or the drive in could be the move.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to Angel Mills branding coach, shout out to Dj Boogie Lov, shout out to Victor of Run the World clothing and Tay of Phuck Fridays clothing brand.
