We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
The first time I was interviewed by Voyage ATL I was a salon owner in Buckhead.. I was trying to balance my creative pursuits (styling and coloring hair) while learning how to stretch myself into becoming someone who can structure a budget and keep a business organized! In February of 2020 my life changed drastically and I am now a full time mom! I’m learning how to let go of physically producing to be worthy and learning what patience and unconditional love means. As a female in the feminist era I have found that you don’t get a ton of respect as a stay-at-home mom, but let me tell ya sis, it’s not for the weak. Before my change of status my work-life balance looked like meeting up with my husband and our friends after work, having drinks, lots of social time.. Now it’s more like getting out of the house for a bit or going on walks for some fresh air! My husband and I still love to get out for some fresh margaritas!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Leaving the business world was not an easy task for me.. I can associate my worth in what I produce or how successful I am like everyone else in the world. It’s hard to see the “super mom’s” who are being mom and running some mega company while I feel like I’m barley keeping my head above water most days. Today I am choosing to be fully mom and know that’s ok! I think I will forever be on a journey of releasing all of my different art forms into the world! I don’t think I was made for just one role, but many. Right now it’s being a mom… being present with my son, Reign. Sometimes I think it’s a form of art to love him the way I want him to be loved. I’m raising a strong young man who is being taught to love others in a hurting society!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Roswell is so fun because you are so close to everything! We could spend a Saturday having brunch at Fellow’s or Gracious Plenty then head over to Deep Roots to continue our champagne breakfast! Maybe stroll down Canton Street for lunch and take a hike at the Mill to work off all that fun. Hop over to Pure for some Mexican dinner! Start our Sunday at Maple Street Biscuit in Alpharetta and hang around the square for the day! Hit up Holmes for dinner in downtown Alpharetta. (I love food if you can’t tell) The following week we could hit up all of my favorite neighborhoods in the city- Midtown (spend the day at Piedmont park), Virginia Highlands (ride our bikes to the belt line), Buckhead (get our shopping on), check out Ponce City Market… Anything! That’s why I love Atlanta.. There is so much to do!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the support of my husband I would not be able to fulfill this role in my son’s life! My husband, Clay, is the first one in the crowd to jump up and shoutout how proud he is that I’m willing to pour into our son day after day! I understand there are women out there who would love to get to do what I do on a daily basis and I hate that there isn’t more support for those women, but I am blessed beyond belief that I have a husband who stands beside me and cheers me on everyday!
