We had the good fortune of connecting with Amya McFadden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind becoming a young fashion stylist at 16 years old was “why not?”. Of course I was afraid at first because not many people think being a stylist is possible for younger people or just in general. Considering it’s not an office job. I just had to believe there will always be people who are interested in what I like so I finally just started it. I’ve been enjoying it so much! I’ve also had a few girls my age, younger, and older tell me I’ve inspired them to become stylists too. Which is also what it is really about! Inspiring other girls and just making an impact and breaking the barriers of what can be done as a teenager and just as a young black woman in general! My dream is to become a internationally known celebrity stylist and entrepreneur!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is my creativity and how young I am entering the Fashion Styling industry. I create such wise and creative looks which is what I’ve gotten admirable feedback about the most! I love how fast my page is growing and just the excitement from my clients after being styled! The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make with starting my business was advertising it. I was so afraid about people not supporting or my work going unnoticed. Therefore, it took me many months to finally breakthrough with it and finally post about my work I’ve been doing! Surprisingly, I got support and I’ve been growing ever since! I plan for my business to grow so much more and to become the youngest celebrity fashion stylist there is!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place in Atlanta would be Atlantic station or the belt-line. Those places are the most interesting and fun to me. You get to see so much art on the belt line and just walk and get exercise while having fun. There is also so many places to shop and eat at in Atlantic Station!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother and father, Natasha Lemmon and Harold McFadden. My parents have supported me and encouraged me each and every day to keep going and strive for greatness!
