We had the good fortune of connecting with Amir “Sofia Moussier” Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amir “Sofia Moussier”, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My creative career began when I was only 18 years old and I wanted to jumpstart my independence. I was a freshman in college attending Michigan State University, and I had all of this freedom that I decided to create a brand solely off the message of being carefree. That brand, Soreem, was the domino effect that led me to creating STAD RUNWAY, an entertainment fashion show group that combines the two worlds of dance and modeling. Not only did we prepare for shows, but I also intensely trained models for preparation local gigs.

What should our readers know about your business?
Having an idea is always the easiest part when it comes to building an empire. The ideation phase is one of the fun parts because you’re able to explore and lose yourself like a little kid in the process. The hardest part is executing the idea and finding a valuable team who has the same vision as you and drive to bring it to life. Sometimes the vision can get lost. I think the hardest thing for me when it came to STAD RUNWAY was the execution, I had the vision, just didn’t have the resources for the bigger vision. It was frustrating and discouraging because I seen it in my head but not in my reality. It forced me to become a better planner and to work smarter and not harder, anything is truly attainable.

When I originally came up with STAD RUNWAY, I wanted it to be a entertainment fashion show organization that executes large shows on and off campus. The two worlds of dancing and modeling would both exist. I put on mini events, training camps all in hopes to help promote and fund the larger show. I fell short with the first entertainment fashion show because I didn’t plan correctly, very great learning experience for my now reality. STAD RUNWAY comeback is on the horizon…

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just moved out here in January of this year, so I’m still learning the vibe and the scene. If one of my friends from back home, I’d take them out to nature first. The nature out here is literally so amazing and beautiful. It’s great for grounding. There’s this free Paint n Sit event that happens every Saturday that I would also take them too. Shoutout to @paintnsitatl! I’d take them to some of the brunch spots I archived to go to, like Milk and Honey, Soigne Garden, Toast, and places like that. Maybe even a candle making class and or fragrance class which is something I’ve been wanting to tap into.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have many people to shout-out that gave me the extra push.. For one being the Creator, my ancestors, guides and angels. Those individuals who started with me in the very beginning, Teo, Karl, Caleb, and Charm. To my interns Angela, Mia, Naomi, Greg and Daiya. Those who have helped and pushed me throughout my processes, Blair, Kalin, Malik, and Brooke. To every model who I have trained and mentored, thank you. Also want to shoutout and thank my family for being the inspiration to create something so bold because I wanted a voice for myself but also giving me that push at times. I also want to shoutout someone who will forever have my heart and will forever play the highest role in my life, Edward. He has not only brought much inspiration but also motivation to why I do what I do now in this chapter of life, so thank you.
