We had the good fortune of connecting with Amiee Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amiee, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Always strive to be better than yesterday’s version of yourself.
I love and live by this quote because of the motivation behind it. As humans in a world dominated by social media presence, it is vital to remember you are only as good as yesterday’s version of yourself. We must only compete with ourselves to ensure we are always elevating and reaching new heights in life. Spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically, we must take pride in our own journey while finding news way to break barriers.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Besides being a college cheer coach and mentor, I am also a student financial services coordinator at Morehouse College. Outside of by 9-5 at Morehouse, I also am a certified etiquette consultant. I take pride in ensuring the elevation of the young adults navigating life after high school into college, and life post college. The idea of having an everlasting impact on the younger generation is exciting and keeps me motivated to always do my best.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations. I knew I wanted to do something that helped amplify the image of individuals who needed an extra boost of confidence to succeed. Being a cheer coach and an etiquette consultant while working at a college allows me to put my skills to work all day, everyday. The main idea of etiquette, in my opinion, is to allow your demeanor and aura to be so compelling that you are able to own every room you walk into without saying a word. It’s a powerful and sharp skill to have and master.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My idea of fun varies depending on the day, which is even more fun in my opinion! Throughout the week, I would take my friend hiking up Kennesaw Mountain, to a spa for facials and deep tissue massages, and also a day for afternoon tea. I would also take my friend to Southern Belle farm to pick out flowers and fruits of her choice. I’d cook majority of the time because I am a pretty decent cook, but I’d also take her to a few restaurants like Pirate’s Boil for seafood, Pappasito’s or La Parilla for mexican cuisine, Iron Age Korean Steakhouse, and go try to some places at the Beltline.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This would not be possible without my beloved cheer team, The Black Storm Cheer Squad at Kennesaw State University. Being one of the coaches is the most amazing gift God has blessed me with. I get to coach alongside one of my best friends, and cultivate lifelong meaningful relationship with my cheerleaders that go beyond cheer. We are a family and I am grateful for being given the opportunity to lead such an amazing group of college athletes.
