We had the good fortune of connecting with Amaris C and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amaris, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I contribute my success to my genuineness. I’m always willing to serve others. I answer questions that other aspiring entrepreneurs have without a chip on my shoulder. I’m always pushing collaboration and go above and beyond to let me clients know they are valued and appreciated. People recognize that my heart is always in everything that I do and that’s why they support me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My brands, Pretty Lane and Events by Amaris Janelle keep me busy. Pretty Lane is a faith based apparel brand and is proof that style can be used to empower. I’m so excited to have a T-shirt brand that speaks to my love of God, my love of self and my love of others. My motto is Stylishly Giving for the Gracefully Living. I help give survivors a voice by giving them a platform to share their testimonies. I help give the everyday consumer a reminder to love self and choose Faith always. Events by Amaris Janelle allows me to create lasting memories for clients and their guests. I execute weddings, baby showers, launch parties and more. Due to the impact of COVID19, this industry was hit hart but I’ve been able to pivot to host smaller events as well as introduced flower keepsakes that are perfect for showing appreciation to loved ones, essential workers, etc.

Entrepreneurship isn’t easy but nothing in life is. I continue to press on because it’s bigger than me. No challenge outweighs the joy I’ve seen on the faces of the people I’ve been able to impact through my businesses. I want people to know that my story is their story and that I’m here to support them.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Post quarantine, the perfect week would consist of food and drinks at Pappadeaux and brunch at Atlanta Breakfast Club. Activities would include: a night out at Kats Cafe or Apache for live music and poetry and a much needed pampering day at Iwi Fresh.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My village is truly phenomenal but I can’t shoutout anyone before recognizing my family. My mother was my first customer without hesitation and with no requests for discounts. She continues to pour into both of my businesses and not just with financial support but she invests her time too. My sister is also a huge asset to my growth and success in business sharing her knowledge in the areas I fall short. Lastly, my dad offers encouragement and shares my business with other potential customers. I’m truly blessed to have a family that believes in me.
