We had the good fortune of connecting with Alneshia Handy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alneshia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Create an Experience. When I say experience, i mean something memorable that you wouldn’t find or do any other place. I wanted to offer something unique. Do it for the Culture Tour started as an Air BnB experience, offering tourist, first time vacationers and returning visitors to experience an in depth and hands on driving tour going through historic areas of ATL. Being from Los Angeles, im familiar with “stars being born”, but when it comes to Atlanta, GA, there are far more amazing historic leaders, stars, and successful entrepreneurs have emerged from all areas in Atlanta. To know their background and to be able to see where they came from are hidden treasures that I would like to offer you. Similar to what I’ve experienced at home, such as the TMZ tour etc; Do it for the Culture tour gives it a little twist, showing the city outside of what you would normally see.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others in business is my passion and resilience to educate, share and inspire others with my experiences. Born and raised in Los Angeles, which similar is known for its upper and lower income areas, which produce a multitude of successful people. Ive had the pleasure of experiencing both lifestyles. I moved to Atlanta in 2008, becoming a first generation college student at Clark Atlanta University. Now a successful business owner in both Los Angeles & Atlanta and extremely proud of where I came from. After living in, going to college, and touring the city I found the need to share these experience with the world; after sharing with family and friends who came to visit for so many years. The inner city or lower income areas within a city sometime gets a bad reputation, often known for gun violence, poverty & drugs but they are far greater than that. A lot of amazing people have emerged from lower income areas and those people happen to be very talented and successful. To know their background and to be able to see where they came from are hidden treasures that I educate and offer to the people. Do It for The Culture Tour is definitely going to give you a “im a local” “family oriented” VIBE every time; and thats just something you cannot experience anywhere else.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is EASY! First day, take them on the Do It For The Culture Tour. After the tour, with all the information and places that we would pass, they would have an entire itinerary set out for me. Some of the places I’d start with are going through historic areas of ATL such as the home and monuments of the late great Dr. MLK and other prominent ATLiens!!!

Some Areas we would visit would be: The Bluff, Ashby/ Vine City, Castleberry Hill, Downtown Atlanta, Sweet Auburn, Edgewood, Mechanicsville, Bankhead, Adamsvile, Summerhill, Grant Park, West End, West Midtown, Buckhead, etc.

Attractions we would pass would be: Trap Museum, Clark Atlanta Univ., Morehouse College, Escobar Lounge, Magic City, Atl City Detention Center, Court House, Underground Atlanta, 5 Point Train Station, HN Liquor Store, Washington High, Woodruff Park, Georgia State Univ., Ghost Bar, God is Dope, Café Circa, Dr. MLK National Historical Park, Old Braves Stadium, Olympic Torch Lighting (1996), Peaches StripClub, Atlanta Beltline, Atlanta Street Art Wall, Cascade Skating, Blue Flames Strip Club, Club Crucial, Club Bankhead, V-Live Strip Club, Compound Night Club

Restaurants we would have the option to eat would be: Busy Bee’s Restaurant, JR Crickets, BQE Lounge, Sweet Auburn Seafood, Mr. Everything, Paschals Restaurant, Ju-Tox Juice Bar, 255 Tapas Bar, Spinning Pie, Frost Bistro, Indulge Gourmet Popcorn, Old Lady Gang, Kelz Kitchen, Mangos Restaurant, Sweet Auburn

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to first dedicate my shoutout to Aria, my daughter, without her I wouldn’t have the motivation or drive to share my story and experiences with the world. Second, the group I would like to SHOUTOUT is THE CULTURE, without culture there is no direction. Everything that I do is for the culture.
