Meet Alexis Williams | CEO & Creative Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, why did you pursue a creative career?
I know this may sound very cliché, but I didn’t choose a creative career, it chose me. Growing up I seen other females my age do makeup, hair, and nails but I never was creative in that area. Instead after one random day, my mom asked me to create a logo for an upcoming project and she was blown away and encouraged me to learn more about graphic design so I can take it to the next steps. I always designed my flyers/logos, but I never thought about how I could make money from it; so that’s exactly what I did…became self-taught doing graphics on the side for people all around. Since then, I have been the head designer for my clothing brand, Compassion The Brand with no outside help.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been an entrepreneur for 6 years where I first started CLEgivesback (CLEgivesback.com), an acronym which stands for Compassion, Leadership, and Empathy. Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. My community organization emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established February 2nd 2016, an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.
Throughout the years I wanted to move in another direction where I could reach more people. That is where Compassion The Brand was born, founded February 8th 2019. Compassion The Brand was created for those who aren’t afraid to show their regular acts of kindness through fashion. In a mathematical world, 1+1=2 but in a community, 1+1+11…Together we can make a difference and protect one another! CTB was established with the ambition to spread positivity, unity, and protection through streetwear fashion.
My greatest passion is to serve others and with my businesses, I can successfully do that while also being a part of the fashion world.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out 5 indiviuals who I call “MY5”. Courtney, Aleeha, Chara, Jonathan, and Vaughn. Some relationships are as long as 10 years between us. The support and love I get from these 5 is unmatched from any friendship I ever had. The loyalty between all of us and the way we push each other to be the best we can be (and more) is astounding.
I also would love to shout out my mom and dad!!! Being able to share my accomplishments and hear how proud they are of me means everything, because all I ever wanted to do is make them proud.
