We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexander, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My passion for rebuilding and repairing computers started at a young age. I was always fascinated by computers and technology. I would take apart electronics and put them back together when I was bored. In school I would always be the guy teachers and students would come to for help with their cell phones or laptops. After school it grew into a business for me. Local churches and musicians would come to me to get laptops. Social media started to grow and word of mouth started to spread. Before I knew it I was working with mega churches, national artist, corporate companies, fire stations, and many more. In 2022 I decided to get my LLC and it is still growing today. I am very thankful for where I am now and thank my loyal customers for supporting me. Without them it wouldn’t be as successful as it is today. I am very grateful.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business Burgess Electronics LLC is a business that repairs, refurbishes, upgrade, and sell brand new custom electronics tailored to what our customers want. Getting the business to where it is now was definitely not easy. At first fresh out of high school it was tough because I knew it was what I wanted to do but I just didn’t know how to go about doing it from a business aspect. I thank God for meeting great people along the way who showed me how to operate and set it up as a business and not just a trade. All i really knew was fixing, building, and repairing computers. I have learned many lessons along the way. There where definitely times I was ready to quit and just find something else. It can be exhausting and stressful but it definitely was worth it to be where I am now. I look forward to what else this journey will bring. I have many more goals I want to accomplish and leave for my sons Alexander and Aaron Burgess so they can carry on the business if they choose to when they finish college.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
South Carolina is more of a laid back setting. If my best friend was visiting definitely Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC are the places to go have fun. Ruth’s Chris steak house is definitely one of my go to spots for eating. Williams-Brice Stadium is a main attraction to watch games and Columbia Township Auditorium for concerts. Carowinds in Charlotte, NC is good for some fun. I’m also a beach person. Charleston Beach and Myrtle Beach are definitely a stress reliever when business gets tough. For the most part I’m happy just sitting on the front porch with the wind blowing sipping on some cold apple juice. The good life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank God first of all because he gave me the gift to do what I do. Also shoutout to all my clients who trust me enough to keep coming back for more. Loyalty is everything to me so that’s why I look out for my clients the way i do.
