We had the good fortune of connecting with ALEIA SHIPMAN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ALEIA, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to remain focused, stay the course and continue to hustle. As long as you live life will always throw something at you but it’s your faith and persistence that will see you through those times.
What should our readers know about your business?
What I am most excited about is the growth of 3G. The opportunity we have had to pivot and provide additional services as well as expanding our reach to a wider customer base. With the growth our company has had we are now moving towards manufacturing and branding our own products. The opportunity to produce a variety of our own chemical solutions will set us apart from other distributors and will make us the 2nd minority-female owned chemical manufacturing company in the US.
The journey has not been easy but it has always been worth it. I welcome challenges because there is opportunity in opposition. Those challenges remind me that I come from greatness as the granddaughter of 2 entrepreneurs, it’s always been in my blood and failing is not an option.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Funny that I wish I had a weeks worth of time to take my best friend around but I imagine a day would look a little like this:
Breakfast- Highland Bakery
Shopping- Visit Ponce City Market, boutiques throughout Atlanta that include Pink Sky or Tags
Lunch- Taqueria del Sol (the best shrimp corn chowder is a must)
Siteseeing- You can’t visit without going to the King Center, Auburn Ave, The Georgia Aquarium and of Legoland for the little ones
Dinner- depending on your desires I would recommend Poor Calvin’s for an Asian infused experience, Nice Mon if you want to venture outside the city for an authentic homestyle Caribbean feast.
Nightlife- Head to the St. Regis for drinks at the bar
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So my shoutout definitely goes out to a few people. In March 2020 when the pandemic forced many businesses to close temporarily and some permanently 3G Chemical was able to keep its doors open. We were a major supplier of products that were needed to fight Covid-19. After the schools shut down I had to bring in my 3 children Gavin, Giyah and Gerrisyn to assist in the warehouse getting orders filled and delivering products. They were a huge help to the success of the company during this time. My mother, Margaret Davis, who has served as my Office Manager for 5 years was also instrumental in navigating the business during the pandemic. The company won multiple contracts providing covid cleaning and disinfecting which required me to be in the field 7 days a week and she continued to man the phones and manage the team.
