We had the good fortune of connecting with Aisha Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Love Your Skin Esthetics was a decision driven by both passion and a clear sense of purpose. As a licensed esthetician, I’ve always had a deep love for skincare, especially helping people achieve healthy, glowing skin. But my vision went beyond just providing treatments- I wanted to create a space where I could educate and uplift women, particularly women of color who were often underrepresented in the skincare industry.

The thought process behind starting my own business was not only to follow my passion but to make sure that people of color had proper representation and access to skincare treatments and education that catered to their specific needs. I noticed a gap in skincare education and services tailored for people of color and it was important to me that my business addressed that need, offering treatments and guidance specifically designed for melanated skin, while also providing the broader community with the tools to preserve and enhance their skin health as they age.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my business apart is my commitment to education and representation, particularly for women of color. I felt there was a lack of representation for people of color in the skincare industry, so I made it a priority to offer treatments that are safe and effective for melanated skin, while also empowering my clients with knowledge about their unique skincare needs.

I’m most proud of creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and cared for. I’ve built my business with the belief that skincare isn’t just about treatments- it’s about helping people feel confident in their skin. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see the impact of what I do, especially when clients leave feeling more confident.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt and challenges along the way- especially as a new business owner in a competitive industry. I’ve faced everything from learning how to market myself to navigating the financial side of running a business. One of the biggest challenges was overcoming my fears, but my faith in God gave me the strength and guidance I needed to push through. I also leaned heavily on the support of my friends, family, and mentor who constantly reminded me of my purpose.

I’ve learned that persistence is key. You have to be willing to put in the work even when it feels overwhelming. Surrounding myself with a strong support system has been vital, as has staying committed to my vision. Another important lesson has been the value of investing in myself- whether through continued education or refining my business practices- because it all contributes to growth.

What I want the world to know about Love Your Skin Esthetics is that it’s not just about skincare- it’s about creating a community where everyone feels represented and cared for. My brand is built on passion, knowledge and desire to bring meaningful change to the skincare industry, particularly for women of color.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me, it’s all about the energy of the people you’re with. Whether it’s close friends or family, they make any place more fun. In terms of spots to check out, I’d say a mix of great restaurants and local hangouts. In Philly, brunch or dinner at a trendy restaurant is always a good time, especially those with a grown and sexy vibe. On the Main Line, there are plenty of cool spots to chill, eat, and drink. But honestly, the most exciting part is being around people who bring out the best in you.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been incredibly fortunate to have a strong support system throughout my journey, and I owe a lot of credit to my friends. They were the ones who pushed me from day one, encouraging me to take the leap and enroll in eshtetics school. Their belief in me never wavered, even when I had moments of self- doubt. I also had a special friend who, though no longer with us, played a huge role in my journey. This person saw potential in me that I sometimes struggled to see in myself and constantly reminded me that I was capable of achieving my dreams, even when I couldn’t fully believe it.

In addition to my friends, my family has also been a huge source of support, standing by me through all the ups and downs. Their encouragement and belief in me have kept me going, and I’m incredibly grateful to have had them by my side.
