We had the good fortune of connecting with Ada and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ada, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I was 15, I knew I wanted to have my own business. After Kylie Jenner launched her cosmetics line, I realized I didn’t need to wait until I graduated college to start my own company. In March 2019, I launched my business, V i Z i o N, initially focusing on eyewear before expanding into cosmetics and accessories.

I started my own business to create something uniquely mine and build a lasting legacy. I wanted the freedom and autonomy that comes with not working under someone else’s schedule. Owning my business allows me to fully express my creative side and have complete control over my work.

Currently, I’m rebranding my entire business with a new name and focusing solely on cosmetics. Stay tuned for exciting updates—it’s been a long journey, but the relaunch is coming sooner than you think!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been passionate about fashion, and the idea of modeling first crossed my mind in middle school when people often suggested I should give it a try, especially given my height at the time of 6’1″. From there, I fell in love with modeling, particularly runway, though I’m also developing a passion for photoshoots. I enjoy bringing a designer’s vision to life. It was never easy and still isn’t with always putting school amongst other things first while navigating model calls, agency castings, and fashion shows—both locally and out of state—without my own transportation. Nonetheless, now that I’ve finished school, I’m ready to focus more on my modeling career and building my portfolio. I’m excited to see where this goes. If any photographers are interested in collaborating let me know!

Though I used to be shy and self-conscious about my height, which often attracted unwanted attention, I’ve grown to love it and wouldn’t change a thing. Since high school, I’ve participated in various fashion shows whenever possible. Through these experiences, I’ve learned to step out of my shell and become more confident, knowing it reflects in my walk. I want people to recognize my dedication and hard work and see that I will achieve the goals I set for myself. Keep an eye out for me—I’m just getting started. My aim is also to be a role model for tall women, showing that height is a beautiful asset to be celebrated and embraced, as it truly is a blessing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although I’m from Baltimore, I haven’t truly experienced all it has to offer. I really want to explore my city more. When my friends come to town, we’re definitely going to visit the Inner Harbor, have brunch at Miss Shirley’s Cafe, take pictures at Graffiti Alley, and check out a museum or do a boat cruise. We’ll grab ice cream and watch the sunset from Federal Hill and finally try dinner at Papi Cuisine, which has been on my list for a while.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout-out to my friends. They always go the extra mile for me, and I truly appreciate their unwavering support. My friends have always supported my brand by helping me with pop up shops and vendor events to being my models and wearing my products every chance they get. It’s truly a blessing to have people that believe in you and see the vision while you’re on the journey to achieving your goals. Also a special shout-out to my family, especially my mother. Whenever she’s available, she attends my fashion shows and has invested significantly in my modeling career.
